Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How to share my pirated content with the World ?English
25·3 months agoI think torrents are the best approach to this thanks to their decentralized nature. they can die if nobody seeds anymore but that doesn’t mean uploading it on some site is gonna make it better as that site can go down too. Besides, if you have a spare laptop you can keep always plugged in and doesn’t consume a ton, you can make it constantly seed your stuff.
I think personally the best approach is through torrents but that’s how I see it. Do what you think works best

jokes aside although it will likely keep the slow aspect of encoding like it’s older sibling, I think something like av1an can help speed it up nicely. not only that, if there is a svt-AV2 that will also speed up the process likely

Open Source@lemmy.ml•VideoLAN Publishes Dav2d For Open-Source AV2 Decoder
1·3 months agoWell, it is meant to COMPLETELY DESTROY THE DREAMS OF VCC (h266) SUPPORTERS- I mean, it’s 30% more efficient compared to AV1 as others pointed out.
Also, this means we’re approaching a moment where most of our devices decode AV1 natively without use of dav1d (although I still use it since sometimes hardware decoders for some reason mess up shit)

32·3 months agoyooo, this is so amazing!!
Can’t wait to tryout AV2, I’m not sure there’s an usable encoder yet but I am real excited!
FOSS & royalty free for the win 🔥
(I sound like an AI bot but I’m really just excited 🥲)
tbh you’ll likely find yourself better using anything else that isn’t Ubuntu. Debian is cool if you’re okay with your desktop environment being a bit behind (as for apps you can use flatpaks for the most up to the date, it also is good if you need most app support as it can install .deb) or arch if you want to learn a bit more about how your little penguin lives inside that metal box of yours! Fedora I am not sure as I think they implement or will implement telemetry.
One last thing is that not all telemetry is bad. if you take a look at KDE’s initial prompt for telemetry it is anonymous and is used to simply try and make the DE better
As a user added: Fedora does opt-in telemetry which is the same as Debian’s where if you want you can enable it but by default it’s disabled

People Twitter@sh.itjust.works•I totally agree, too much is too much.
10·5 months agowhat is happening in the US is of course a serious matter and I am happy we have places, communities etc. that keep on spreading awareness about such topics.
This said, like other folks have already mentioned, there are also places where you want to take a gasp of air and just have a nice laugh.
Awareness on these topics is undoubtedly important but done so in the right places.
the comment of the moderator to reason the deletion of the political post is more than reasonable and done wonderfully and it’s sad to see the unfortunate response of this user, playing almost victim.
Let us continue to talk about the politics around the world and spread information and awareness BUT done in a way that allows others to also have a moment to take a breath in places where they momentarily don’t want to be bombarded with x bad thing happening in y place and how this leads to z

reminds me of that one episode in sonic x where eggman creates a similar service except in the form of lamps using a gizmo that blocked the sun to get its power for the lamps
