Huh. Maybe I just run mine lighter. Streaming shouldn’t take much though. Also they’re actively cooled. I’ll keep that in mind though in case mine die unexpectedly.

Exactly. Reuse some old, unused computer. Especially if it’s just for streaming content. Nearly anything can do it and it’ll reduce e-waste.
Fedora and plasma run well on my nucs. One is about 7 years old and handles all the minimal things like streaming and containerized services really well.
How do they burn out? Anecdotal, but I’ve had one running nearly 24/7 for about 6 years now I think and only needed to swap out the fan.

3·9 个月前Pretty sure both of those are not instant unloads and have to be actively opened to force uploads outside of some normal schedule. If that’s true, that won’t work here.

3·9 个月前I have the nvr setup with Synology and the vpn is there too, automated to connect when my phone leaves the wifi. This might be an option, but I’m on iOS so there’s limitations there.
