If you called for help but no one came, how would you feel? Despite sad songs sung by cowboys, believe that not all roses have thorns. Dare to be stupid but don’t be an American Idiot.

Yeah, and part of the reason many American cities are car dependent hellscapes is because they ripped out earlier public transit in exchange for “more individual freedom” in the form of being forced to pilot multi-ton death machines through heavy traffic to get to anything that isn’t more houses. (Yes, I am aware that this is a case of hindsight being 20/20, and the people who did that didn’t know all the things we know now and thus were extraordinarily myopic, but many European cities (including Amsterdam IIRC) did similar things, but they mostly had the good sense to put it back.)
(To be clear, you are also correct.)
Hah, imagine a corner store…

2·11 个月前To some degree I agree with you. But it should be noted that poorly regulated capitalism often makes the smart decision for your own best interests to screw with others. Whereas better regulated capitalism (and socialism) theoretically makes that a smart decision less often.
Also, companies do exist, they exist specifically to shunt responsibility off of individuals. (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because single people having responsibility for massive economic things is probably a recipe for disaster.)
We do need a significant change in culture, we also need to change the system.
Yeah, you’re dead on, and believe me, a lot of us know it, and I hope we do fix it. I’m doing as much as I can I guess, and I promise that there are a lot of other people doing what they can, even if its not publicized like the bad stuff. We’ll see if it matters in the end.
The president also pardoned a bunch of domestic terrorists, screwed over our farmers, and undermined our energy security and trade domination, not to mention replacing every federal job he could with incompetent buffoons. I hate that old white guy.
I understand the sentiment (believe me, we agree more on the democrats than we disagree), but unless you’ve got some guns you’re gonna go shoot in DC that’s probably not gonna be how it happens.
Otherwise, we cannot get new parties (with legit political power on a federal level) without serious election reform, reform that will only happen from within the current party structure. So while we need new parties in the long run, we’ve got some work to do for which we are going to have to work with Democrats.
How do you propose they do that? Keep in mind that your proposal must not give up more power to Republicans.
In this case by cup it probably actually refers to a pint glass of water (two measuring cups), but in any case not an exact measurement, so it doesn’t make sense to give exact measurements. Its describing the vessels of transportation, not the amounts.

18·1 年前I mean, we are way lefter than reddit, and given that the bell curve of intelligent responses is located at about the same place, we probably look a lot further left than we are to liberals and right of there. (i.e. stupid responses and extremist responses look pretty similar.)

No, they don’t want anyone on a bike. (Even though if people go from bike lanes to being in cars that will be even more of an inconvenience.)

3·1 年前AFAIK, it only applies to a relatively small section of Manhattan, in which traffic makes driving fairly difficult anyway, and most less well off people take public transit. I have heard people from new jersey who have to drive in complaining about it though. It does may be somewhat regressive.
What it is certainly not is whatever people on the right are trying to call it. I might be wrong about any of this though, I’m not a new yorker.
