doing some gamedev with renpy
Interests: FFXIV and games in general, art, anime, and books
I honestly didn’t realize how much I’ve been missing a proper AAA girly game on PC until I played infinikki. I’d been using FFXIV to scratch that fashion itch until then, but a proper dress-up game is just better :,) Also I will go out and say the puzzle design and encounter design is so much more interesting than that of comparable titles such as genshin impact (I just wish the fights were harder)!
When I saw this, I immediately sent the link to a gamedev I know who has a disability. They were really excited 🥰
The two guys on the front have very narrow and longs faces^^; purple dude got hit the worst
There already is a review by otomekitten btw!
GDoc Expo is all about uplifting talented developers with perspectives and stories that otherwise don’t get a lot of attention in mainstream gamedev circles and media otherwise. That’s why it’s important to support events like these.
If you would like, you can check out the hundreds of other gamedev events on gameconfguide! Why not participate in #notGDC this year? It’s free, open for everyone, and there’s a low barrier of entry 😉
we discussed this over in !otomegames@ani.social back when it was initially announced! The fandom seems to be delighted about this feature, but I’m personally more concerned about the data privacy aspect of it all…the author is absolutely right to look at this whole thing with scepticism
I find it a little far-fetched to solely link the popularity of otome games to some kind of frustration with modern dating, though. Romance games (and romance in games, e.g. Baldur’s Gate 3 or Mass Effect) offer a lot of fun in-and-of themselves.
It’s a section at the bottom of the steam store page:
Code is also part of Steam’s required AI disclosure form , so I think it should be filtered as well
Really curious about this game since it’s made by a solo dev as well 🤔
Just chiming in to say that your comment made me laugh :,)
When Emilia fought Regulus I was just as hyped as Subaru lmao
I’ve been looking forward to this ep and it didn’t dissappoint!
Sidenote but I really like that the envoys seem to be from the in-universe equivalent of the ottoman empire. One of them even speaks some Turkish. You don’t see this kind of representation often in anime (The only example I can think of is Shoukoku no Altair)
The fight was epic for sure but I was kind of disappointed about Cha Hae-In’s introduction. All that setup in the episodes before just for her to not really do anything and immediately develop a crush on him? I had personally hoped for a more direct confrontation and a slow-burn love story :/
I’m also really curious how this whole thing is going to develop power-scaling-wise. He has just now been discovered by the public but is almost certainly already far stronger than most of the S-rank hunters we know so far.
I watched up until the latest episode. It did not improve and kind of got worse in a way?
Not only has the protag now fully accepted that she is the prince’s prisoner, sometime between episode 4 and 5 she even started to like him out of nowhere?? (Right after she found out that he was sleeping in a secret room with direct access to her prison chambers. She wasn’t even allowed to prevent him from entering until she finally managed to set some boundaries btw)
This episode actually kind of looped back to the original premise in a sense, since it’s about Leticia becoming jealous of a mysterious beautiful woman that Clarke seems to be flirting with. (In episode one, Clarke tried to make her jealous by hiring a girl to accompany him to a ball) She ends up escaping in order to confront him about it, and the whole thing gets resolved with her more or less admitting that she’s ok with marrying him now but that she will need some time.
I guess it’s going to be a regular rom-com from here on out, so I’m dropping it. The fact that she’s still a prisoner is not put into question even once.
The only reason I even watched so far was to see how this train-wreck of a story continues, but I’ve had my fill now and will drop it.
thank you! 😄 My long term goal is not only build up a vndev community on the threadiverse, but to encourage users from the microblog side to post on here as well. Let’s see how that goes… Not many users makes use of that feature, even though that’s one of the main advantages of the fediverse
Thanks for the tip, I’ve cross-posted the thread^^
I posted a long rant on mastodon about this show just today, but to summarize: I absolutely hate it, and nothing about this scenario is romantic. That poor girl is trapped in an engagement she desperately wants to escape and absolutely no one cares, and that NPC-looking prince goes full-on yandere on her while but its treated like normal romance-antics. I will continue hate-watching, though.
Here’s the banner I posted in the original thread, it’s a screenshot from steamdb of games with at least 100k reviews and a user rating of at least 89 with the details of each card omitted:
I agree 100%, both look super ugly
As an alternative, there are tons of gamepad icons on freepik like this one that could be used as long as theres an attribution link in the community description.
Also here’s a quick collage I screenshotted from steamdb, feel free to use it if there aren’t any better ones by others:
Infinity Nikki! It’s probably my new favourite dress up game (dethroning FFXIV)
I see, I hadn’t considered that some of the mechanics would be harder for mobile players 🤔 The main reason for my complaint is that the fights feel way too short if you play them perfectly, you don’t even get to listen to the entire soundtrack once when the boss goes down 😔 had this especially when fighting
spoiler
Chigda. The soundtrack is incredible, but he goes down before you’ve even seen all the mechanics.
