Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Why are "love potions" always romantic in nature? Why hasn't anyone made a non-romantic variant?
2·13 days agoMy assumption is that friendship is a lot easier to initiate and maintain. Limmerence, especially, is a lot of anxiety about how the person feels and if I could only make them see the depth of my feelings and am I what they want. The kind of thing that a specific kind of person wishes for magic for.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How to differentiate between a AGI and an LLM that has read every book in existence?
2·21 days agoThis is interesting. Im not supremely well informed on these issues but I always assumed so called “AGI” would have emotions, or at least would be “Alive.” Is there a term for such a robot? Most fictional robots have intelligence and emotions to the point where we loop back around to it being unethical to exploit them.

There may be some plot elements that people are mad about, but really it just seems to me that people are mad because there is a rainbow flag and a trans flag in some homes. Its just really bland chud rage.
It’s nice to know that Bob the angry flower is still doing things. I met at SDCC like 20 years ago.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a song in a language you don't speak that still gets you dancing and yelling along hyped?
1·1 month agoAnime OP dont usually get me- I kind of see them as their own genre. However Nostalgic Rainfall by Chic0 with Honeyworks is something I listen to every little while.
Also for the young me, growing up in an Modern Orthodox enclave, but completely immersed in NuMetal, Synergia’s Khum Uli August had my number. My friend brought back three whole albums from his birthright trip. I still listen to them when I work out. I miss that guy sometimes, too.

The apps I need for work that concern me are authentication apps; Google and Microsoft authenticator, respectively. Do these work?
My work also has a proprietary timeclock app that I have to use to clock my timesheets when I undertake a particular task. Are there any known issues running this app?

Also, in these cases, get a chicken who can lay eggs (and be prepared to guard that thing, but you should also have eggs to share), or be ready to grow some beans.
I used to watch this youtube channel, Depression Cooking, with this old lady who lived through it showing recipes she made during the depression. It was uploaded by her grandchildren. (This was about a decade ago, before she died). Hot dogs do feature into her recipes a lot, as they were made of less choice parts and less choice meats or parts could be mixed in to stretch it. Sausage in general is like that.
It is of course possible that sausages could be too expensive, but you see that more in a war/famine type situation, as the government procures food stores for fighers and trade routes collapse. So like, the Max Miller episodes on food of the Soviet home front.
Im sorry I find historical food so interesting.
