They have not had an audit yet but they are planning on it when they finish implementing their new service or something like that. That will be their first audit I believe.

1·2 months agoI would, and plan on doing it but that is not something I can do right due to lack of hardware and skills. This is just a temporary solution until I can self host my own.
I don’t believe so. Don’t think It would be viable to do it for that cheap. JMP.Chat is 5 bucks a month
Thank you very much I appreciate you amigo
Ok it sounds like a good fit for me thank you for the confirmation. I truly appreciate it.
Yes that’s plenty of time. Is it just one number? For 5 bucks a month? And if I wanted more I would have to get another subscription with a different jabber id? Thank you for the reply by the way!!

40·2 months agoIt’s almost like we told everyone long ago what was going to happen. But we are the paranoid ones.
Sorry for the late reply.
No existing hardware for me to self host but I do have 2 Linux laptops which can be used to practice but not full on self hosting as they both are main laptops. I do plan on buying a nas but that is not my main priority right now and the money has to go elsewhere.
I have a list of things I want to self host but for staters, ente, paperless ngx, nextcloud, media server.
Yes I heard of Ubuntu server but was scared I was going to need more Linux skills to navigate. Glad it won’t be that way but I will probably learn. Thanks for docker compose I heard of it but have not gotten to the stage of using it yet.
You are amazing for this thank you.

59·5 months agoSounds like they were using a vpn on their device but didn’t actually bind it to qbit. The solution you posted is exactly how you bind it to the vpn. So now even if the vpn leaks, qbit will cease to up/dwn. Glad you guys learned and hopefully you guys never get a letter again.

Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What People Think Privacy/Security Is
1·5 months agoYes it is a cryptocurrency just like bitcoin and eth but it is privacy focused. For example, on the bitcoin blockchain, your transactions and who sent btc to who and how much did you send is open to the public. With monero, there is still a blockchain but nothing is open to the public. They don’t know who sent monero to who or how much you sent. All they know is a transaction was made and thats it. If i made any mistakes hopefully someone will correct me but I hope this gave you the basic understanding of how it works.

Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Austrian government agrees on plan to allow monitoring of secure messaging
4·6 months agoI agree, but if they are not well versed in the digital world, most think they are safe in SMS until their conversations gets blasted in a court case. Honestly, I would rather they stay on SMS then try to move onto signal so the government doesn’t have a reason to try to go after encrypted messengers. Just wish there were stronger laws in place to prevent this but of course we can’t compete with billion of lobby dollars.

Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Austrian government agrees on plan to allow monitoring of secure messaging
3·6 months agowell since majority of people won’t be using signal and a custom ROM, they won’t have to worry about the minority. Just hope people can see and fight back. Unfortunately, most don’t care or think its a good thing for some reason.

I don’t use cloudflare but the only reason I noticed is a lot of websites I go on use cloudflare captcha due to me using a vpn. Now I can’t even get on those website due to the captcha being down 😭
