  • There are some really good quotes from famous painters in the late 19th and early 20th centuries saying that photography is devoid of all artistic merit, and that it should never and will never be taken seriously as an art form. Every time a new tool comes along, the art community freaks out. It happened with the invention of the camera, it happened with the invention of digital art software, and we are currently watching it happen with AI. Eventually, it’ll just be another tool in an artists toolbox.

  • This is exactly what Ted Bundy did when his first love dumped him.

He fell for a woman called Diane Edwards while in college, and they dated for about a year. She was everything he thought a woman should be; beautiful, smart, successful, and from a well-off family. She dumped him because she saw him as “pitifully weak”. Psychologists believe, and Bundy himself all but confirmed, that this was the catalyst that would fuel his homicidal rage towards women. It’s also believed that Diane heavily influenced the type of women he killed; young white college students with brown hair parted in the middle. He began killing women the same year Diane dumped him.

Five years later he was married and living a double life as a serial killer. During this time, he sought out and reconnected with Diane behind his wife’s back, and Diane was impressed with his transformation. He was on the cusp of a successful legal and political career, and he seemed a lot more masculine and sure of himself. She was smitten and wanted to pursue the relationship. They even got as far as discussing marriage. That’s when Bundy dumped her and cut off all contact with her, getting his “corrective experience” moment, which clearly did nothing to heal the trauma of rejection that spurred one of the most terrifying episodes of serial murder in history.

Elon Musk doesn’t need to beat the bullies to get closure. He needs therapy. Or rather, he needed therapy, and he needed it many years ago. At this point, he’s in his “dumping Diane” phase, where he’s already hurt so many people and he’s so far gone that no amount of therapy would help him. He’s already too addicted to the monster he’s become to ever want to heal himself. His need to have these corrective experiences, like Bundy with Diane, is strictly to feed the monster’s ego.

  • The Trump administration already interfered by getting Tate released from jail in Romania.

Trump himself directly interfered with the Romanian investigation, no question. That’s not the same thing as the DoJ interfering with the SDNY investigation. Two separate things.

I have more than enough probable cause to be suspicious here.

Suspicion is not evidence that the DoJ has done anything to interfere with the SDNY investigation. In fact, it looks more like Trump/Bondi are not interfering specifically because they don’t need to. Tate was gonna get popped by US law enforcement eventually, and was likely banking on Trump saving him. Since he’s a liability, all Trump has to do is nothing.

  • The servers in the local resurant here have a small tablet and can just look this up on the fly. No need to memorize anything. Not quite sure about the allergens, but that could easily be solved with software.

I can see how this could be a required skillset for a waiter in a super high-class restaurant where it would add to the prestige and professionalism, but in a average restuarant I’m totally fine with the waiter having a look at the tablet before answering a question about the menu.

At this point you could just have a tablet at the table and let the customer look it up themselves. In the mean time, for restaurants that don’t provide tablets to their waiters (which is most of them), this is a skill they need.

I guess being annoying is a skill. But I absolutly fucking hate when people do that. The job is to take the order, not suggest one.

Again, outside of super-fancy restaurants, I’d think that’s actually quite inappropriate.

This is specifically a waiters job. I love that you think you’ve never been sold anything at a restaurant. Those waiters did a good job.

The entire fake-friendly act with a fake-smile is a very annoying American thing. Your job is to take the order and bring the food. After that I really don’t want to hear anything else but “Enjoy your meal” and “Was everything alright?”. Talkative waiters are the worst.

Hate it all you want. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s part of the job for American waiters. They don’t have the luxury of not having to be friendly.
