Plasma probably seems a lot more familiar to people who are used to Windows, which I imagine was a consideration.
Cinnamon.
I use Arch based distros btw.

I have questions about KDE as the desktop choice. It is the leading DE in terms of adding new features and Wayland development but it’s quite unstable compared to something like GNOME or Cinnamon.
All extensions are disabled. I use the adw-gtk3 theme for GTK3 apps but I’m not talking about those (though the latest version of the theme also has smaller buttons that means the GTK devs probably have indeed changed the size of the buttons).
On the screenshot there is a GTK4 app that hasn’t been updated to the newest libadwaita version (Pipeline) on the left, and on the right there is a default GNOME app that has been updated (Console).
No I don’t use any scaling. Though I never checked if the update turned it on automatically.
Let the kernel do kernel job, chief. It aint a kernel no more if it does apps job.
You really have weird priorities, fellow internet user.
I know that and it’s a good thing. But FOSS networks are unable to be general and all inclusive. That’s what I’m usually talking about and something I feel like they lie about.
Your reasons don’t really give the government financial advantage imo. If the projects are big, they will find funding anyways.
I don’t see this comment having much to do with mine so I’ll consider it a bait.
Because on FOSS social networks if you personally like something that’s not leftist, you’ll get banned in a week at most.
That will never happen in the US though, at least without major incidents that are beneficial for citizens’ personality development (yes it means making people suffer).
I mean, why would a government benefit from funding something like that? Also no large funding means no fear of doing something that the government won’t like. And with the size of anti-Trump movements, it’s probably a good thing.
For the record, I still don’t really like this decision.
Yea they have to ban the contributor who proposed this.
SHA512 ftw.
Typical replacement time of what? You never need to replace an SSD if it doesn’t wear out.
You shouldn’t really use swap on an SSD in the first place. It reduces the drive’s lifespan.
Yea the FOSS community is one of the most toxic big communities I’ve ever seen.
Tbh with all I know, this situation is very weird and may have signs of conspiracy. I personally wouldn’t trust any sources, including the developer themselves. People can be pretty unhinged nowadays for pretty ridiculous reasons.
I’ve never had too many issues on HP machines but there are other reasons to avoid that manufacturer, such as build quality.
Literally this.
