  • There’s a huge push for news posting in the UK as well, it turns out a lot of the guidance for legal name changing is completely false and kind of predatory. You don’t have to pay for officiation, you don’t have to publicly announce any private details, in fact only a select few organisations in the UK are allowed to access the link between your name and deadname, same with gender markers. But most sites want you to pay, including gov.uk, and there is a lot of false advice.

  • Tbh I like my primary source of news being Reddit Lemmy. Maybe because it enables me to think, piques my curiosity, and lets me search for a topic instead of blasting me with countless reports that are actually irrelevant. In an age where the internet is used to spoonfeed mush, I prefer the old way: choosing what I consume.

  • The leadership (is supposed to) represent the people, the people do not represent the leadership. Israelis do not represent the Israeli government. Employees of a Meta subsidiary do not represent Meta, Facebook, or Zuckerberg. Don’t attack McDonald’s employees because the burger is more expensive, YouTube employees because the content preys on children or residents/soldiers of a country because the government decides to mobilise its army against another community. Employees are just victims of capitalism, just working there because they must, irrespective of politics.
