There are some issues with VMs and WINE that make the actual hardware & OS more appealing. I’ve heard of issues like the VM won’t start or there’s instabilities in the VM itself that makes things more difficult. Wine and compatibility layers like it can and do have issues with obscure software or it can’t run the software properly or at all.
Mostly companies who have platform specific software that would cost to much to replace or take to long to replace. There’s still companies that run ancient versions of OSs like Pre Mac OS X and Windows 95 because there’s simply no newer OS that can run a specific software besides that OS.
I’m not jazzed about AI in document editors and spreadsheet software because I’m dyslexic enough that I have trouble finding some big errors.
I currently have no VR headset of any kind but it sounds fun (from what I’ve heard).
This show had the most awesome episodes ever! If you ever paired Mythbusters with How it’s Made and Modern Marvels it would be the best educational engineering TV programs you could watch.
So long and thanks for all the fish grills
There’s always a relevant xkcd, lol
It’s been dumb for a while. During the Norwegian butter crisis (a shortage of butter in Norway), people would smuggle butter.
Edit: fixed factual errors in my comment.
Coffee… Coffee never changes…
I finished HL2 E2 a few weeks ago for the first time and I’m still waiting for the thrilling conclusion.
Gross indubitably
There really is an xkcd for everything.
Considering that you can buy some Raspberry Pi micro computers (these are ARM architecture computers) for less than €100 that are performance competitive with a lot of existing hardware; this idea would make a ton of sense for Europe to implement. I think Europe could probably start designing and manufacturing chips locally within 2 to 5 years on the low end 5 to 10 years on the high end.
If you look at the older Macs, they make decent Linux computers because the hardware is decent and many people still use them in some capacity or another. There is also a project to make Linux run on the M series Macs.
