I think 2 things are true here:

1. The government and billionaire media are really nipping at her heels, trying to turn anything related to her into a scandal. See the recent “drug scandal” which turned out to be a nothingburger (she was carrying CBD).

2. She has tankie-adjacent views, and quoting a guy who did a mass shooting in a civilian airport is in really poor taste. I can’t defend it, “terrorism apologia” seems accurate here.

I think you’re fooling yourself with that “just recounting history”. If I tweet a Jordan Peterson quote next to a photo of him looking cool would you believe me if I said “oh I don’t support him, I’m just quoting events that happened”.

Personally I like metroidvanias for the exploration. If a game tells me where to go (e.g. Metroid Prime 4) it feels like the game is playing for me, robbing me of the fun.
