Start a Bengali language community then. World’s sixth largest language, massive literature, movies, Nobel laureates, the only language speakers in the world to carve out a country for their language. Yet they are mostly present in Facebook, Instagram and X. What a loss!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Does Mastodon bring anything of value to a Lemmy user?English
2·15 days agoYou are comparing apples with oranges. The two apps serve two different purposes. Mastodon is mostly for individual one on one interactions, lemmy is for building communities.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Growing content diversity and entertainment on the fediverse - we can do it together!English
3·24 days agoI realise this now. One of the things I have experienced is that particularly with lemmy, one has to be persistent. I started a group named bengali_convo a few years ago, and it picked up remarkably. But then I did not tend to the group much due to other commitments and the discussion streamed trickled down. I certainly for one, see a huge potential in lemmy and piefed for expansion of #Fediverse and #ActivityPub.

4·24 days agoCommunities grow organically. If you keep things simple and raise awareness, that will work as it has worked with other solutions. We have a saying that a zebra is a horse designed by a committee. The fediverse was meant to be decentralised and designed to be “wide” within a protocol. So while the adoption may seem to be slow now, it will speed up over time and spread.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How to get non technical friends in the fediverse?English
1·27 days agoIt’s a pragmatic approach. Without burning bridges, we can bring people over.

Include someone in your team who does.
