Privacy@lemmy.ml•Should I go for GrapheneOS, e/os or LIneageOS on a new phone? (see description)
9·1 day agoI love Graphene, because I seriously care about privacy. Everything works well but I also wasn’t a fan of having to find Google hardware. Second hand worked and next year I will consider the Motorola that will run Graphene.
Since you insist on Meta and Google Apps, you seem less concerned with hard privacy, so a Fairphone with e/OS could be a great choice. e/OS is nice too, I tried it for a while but found some laps in it’s privacy settings and I did not want to leak any location info to google.
If you don’t like it, you can revert to stock android, no problem.

Europe@feddit.org•AfD tops another poll as support for German governing parties slipsEnglish
4·4 days agoI volunteer in the community and strike up the political conversations there. Most people prefer to believe a pretty lie over the truth. At least the 60+ folks I get in touch with.
My voice is there, but I am competing against most news outlets and centrist/right politicians spinning their anti-immigrant and pro-war rhetoric. If headlines are put in print, people believe them.
I’m not able to teach people to critically think or question the truth and intent of what the political majority tells them. Sadly, I’ve tried and am at a loss and tired. If you have ideas how to do this, please share.

16·4 days agoDemocracy doesn’t work without education, I’m sick and tired of these idiots voting for their own, and my, executioners
It’s busy work to create more token usage for the slop companies.
Quantity is king, hardly any fortune 500 cares about the quality behind it. LLM usage is perceived and treated as an equivalent to efficiency.
Then in the quarterly business reviews you can show nice charts trending up.

1·6 days agoThanks, this is good to know. I’m in the process of upgrading my media setup and am playing around with Jellyfin to replace Plex. I’ve been reluctant to commit since Plex is easy and I have a lifetime pass, but this data collection is a great reason to finally be done with Plex

World News@lemmy.world•Uproar in Germany over law requiring men get military approval for long stays abroadEnglish
5·16 days agoNot quite, this particular paragraph was identical in the cold war era but the other paragraphs, mainly defining when it is in effect and when not, were changed. This made the law applicable since January 1st of this year. So previously this rule was only applicable during war or “conflicting times” and now it always is.

6·27 days agoI will fight to defend our rights to express ourselves, love who we want, be who we want.
The biggest and most immediate threat to these values are our governments. Implementing surveillance policies under the disguise of protecting children, while failing to bring those to justice that are actually harming them. (Epstein is the current example, the abuse in the church has been known for decades more)
Corrupt politicians are representing the ultra rich and multinationals instead of the people, funneling our tax money into their own pockets and blaming immigrants and asylum seekers when underfunded infrastructure fails. Fueling the fire that enables the political shift to the right without any regard for the consequences.
In short… the answer is NO, there is no government worth fighting for. There is no government that represents me.
