It’s a digital good, just a bunch of 1s and 0s in a particular order. The manufacturing cost of making a copy is near 0. There are license fees, but those are almost always pencentage based. Valve takes 30%, the publisher takes a percentage, and so on.

Then it’s a balance of volume vs price. If you can sell 10,000 copies at $10, vs 1,000 at $15, ($100,000 vs. $15,000), it is more profitable to sell the game at $10.

And human psychology is manipulable. Seeing the original price at $15 will influence them to value the game around $15, and so $10 would be a good deal. If they want it, they should buy it on sale. Where as seeing the original price at $10 would influence them to value the game at $10, which could mean it’s not as good as a $15 game they can get for $10 on sale.

The developers need to make enough profit to cover the development costs’ debt. Then after that, the rest of the profit goes to the next project and maybe bonuses… Probably to the executives. Part of that is also to cover the cost of past and future non-pofitable games. Not all games make a profit and developers and publishers need to offset the cost of past and future failures.

Errr, they can be illegal if they break other laws, like obstructing traffic, damaging property, or trespass on private property. It’s manageable with small groups, but it’s hard to coordinate an angry, large group to not do that. That’s when they call in police and that’s when they make arrests.

The “reasonable” moderate Democrats are hoping to win votes with: “We’ll undo a few Republican initiatives and put our friends in offices, but otherwise keep everything the same.” Can’t imagine why that isn’t getting them votes. In 2024 they ran out of Republican initiatives to undo and their platform was just: keep our friends in office and keep everything else the same. If they had other planned initiatives, few people picked up on them.

The nuance that makes this false is that the water will eventually get bored and seek another job.

I’m learning from the comments. I’m thinking poo water is recycled more often where there is water scarcity. My current town detoxifies the poo water and releases it back into a nearby river instead of reusing it as drinking water. It’s not pure water, but some regulated blend that won’t upset the river ecosystem. Lots of bacteria and other processes involved.

In elementary, we had a field trip to the water treatment plant. It stunk… badly 🤢, but it was cool learning how it worked.

My mostly Hispanic hometown’s water was mixed with recycled poo water. It was heavily filtered and processed and was probably safe… But still.

It also had a chemical taste to it.
