I’ve heard it’s actually pretty good for 40yo+ people. The app isn’t the main problem, it’s the people.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you think Lemmy has a culture separate from Reddit or is it basically the same?English
8·7 months agoLemmy community is even worse because it’s less diverse.
The Reddit bot problem isn’t as prevalent in smaller, non-political subreddit.
Lemmy barely has any communities that aren’t political or tech related.
And most importantly, the NSFW communities are significantly under par.

3·7 months agoWhy is everyone so combative as if this has not been well known for decades?
Cannabis is a drug just like every other. It’s not safe unregulated. This is evidence that we should regulate and provide safe guidelines on usage.
But I know so many people that spread that you can’t eat or smoke to much cannabis. That level of ignorance is no better.

It’s a bit disingenuous to pretend police and punishment in general are not a deterrent. Yes, reducing police has shown to reduce crime for some time in certain case studies, but not removing them.
Because it’s not about money for them, they’ve already surpassed that concept, it a about power. Us peasants aren’t quite evolved enough to understand that yet.
That’s not exactly true though. With excess, we’ve increased the needs and wants of individuals and scaled production to match. We could easily provide the same amount as before with less people, but every generation is leveraging the growth of the previous generation. Once we don’t grow in one generation, we’ll plateau and we won’t be ready for it. It’ll be the social version of an economic recession.
With the introduction of automation every decade (currently AI is the big one), unemployment rates will go up so we don’t even need as many working. Our capitalist brains just can’t fathom “handing out” extra resources.

I run multiple enterprise companies through it who are transferring significantly more sensitive data than me. I’m not as strict as some people here, so no, I don’t really care. I think it’s the best service, especially for free, so until things change, that’s what I’m using.
