Ukraine@sopuli.xyz•Is Russia's Push for Terms it doesn't deserve a sign of desperation?English
6·4 months agoEven though I’m not a fan of Putin, I have to concede to him that Trump was his greatest achievement ever. No one ever thought that an external force could completely destroy the US this far. No one could even think of the idea of the US President actively trying to kill the country. Not even nukes have this level of destruction.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•VW introduces monthly subscription to increase car powerEnglish
5·8 months agoThe remote control is at least tolerable because VW does need to provide every car with cellular network connection and servers to make this happen.
Car power is completely different because it’s a one time change. If I’m their PR, I’ll do something like: VW has successfully tested new performance settings for VW ID.3 that helps to improve acceleration and driving. Upgrade is available at authorized workshops (of course with cost).
Most data centers have some kind of service where you can request a KVM to be connected to the server. It’s not instant as an actual human has to do so but a lot sooner than another human driving long distance. I guess in this case, it’s a mid size company that is big enough to have multiple locations yet small enough to still manage to use on-premise infra instead of data centers.

Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky has started honoring takedown requests from Turkish governmentEnglish
5·1 year agoLet’s imagine BlueSky is absolutely decentralized and does not need to make money, would it have done the same? The answer is unfortunately yes. The other option is to get completely blocked in the country, which after all, does not help.
I’m in favor of decentralization but let’s not pretend that dealing with authorities is not a problem for decentralized services.

24·1 year agoI too have the same problem with German. After 3 years of continuous learning have I still not get the problem, when prefix of verbs comes at the end, over with. When the prefix comes at the end of the sentence, have I always the verb forgotten.

5·1 year agoGood relationships go both ways. It’s pointless to be friendly to an abusive partner. It’s not just Russia but the US as well now.
Biased and censored are two different matters.
Agree. I don’t care about Trump’s second term since I’m not a US citizen but I’m worried about the trend of money buying everything. Recent events have shown that billionaires don’t need to pretend to care about society. They can just join a political party and use their money to do whatever they want.
Musk supporting AfD is just him proving his power. He could not care less about Germans or even Tesla. As much fun as seeing Trump having to clarify that he’s the president, it’s a really bad trend that in this age of media content and AI, it’s easier than ever to influence any society.
I’m pretty sure DeepSeek will play in this direction: give free AI with “PRC influence” to everyone, and when repeatedly enough time, people will believe what they’re told.
This is accidentally so true for German learners when it comes to German verbs.

Technology@lemmy.world•77% Of Employees Report AI Has Increased Workloads And Hampered Productivity, Study FindsEnglish
16·2 years agoThis study failed to take into consideration the need to feed information to AI. Companies now prioritize feeding information to AI over actually making it usable for humans. Who cares about analyzing the data? Just give it to AI to figure out. Now data cannot be analyzed by humans? Just ask AI. It can’t figure out? Give it more so it can figure it out. Rinse, repeat. This is a race to the bottom where information is useless to humans.

AI is the favorite excuse to lay people off. Don’t like someone? AI replaced them. Someone asked for a raise? AI replaced them. Someone got pregnant? Surprisingly, AI also replaced them.
