News@lemmy.world•Trump warns big business: Eat my tariffs, or pay the price
12·1 year agoIt’s when you shift into your wolf form before having the argument so you can look more intimidating. Are you really going to argue with a werewolf? Nah.

News@lemmy.world•Walmart says it will raise prices due to tariff costs after posting solid first quarter sales
9·1 year agoFor the economic safety of the US’ citizens, we really need to figure out how to get rid of a president’s ability to put tariffs on anything. We’ve found out what happens when there’s nothing stopping a president from just pushing them out frivolously. They just should not be able to do this. If we need to put tariffs on anything, it needs to be something passed in the House and Senate. Slowing it down so people actually think things through like real professionals is the key. It should not be done by the president ever again. No exceptions. No saying “Maybe the next president can be trusted to not do this.” They can’t be.

News@lemmy.world•White House scraps plan to block data brokers from selling Americans' sensitive data
11·1 year agoOf course. They want to suck in some of that cash too under the table. Why expect anything more by a government ran by known scammers.
Everything would get overrun by fake users and no one would feel like they’re really interacting with real people -even if they are- because all the trust would be gone. It’s just not worth it.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•How is nobody talking about the fact that The Simpsons Arcade Game got home ports to DOS and Commodore 64 but not NES, SNES or Genesis -- and didn't arrive on console until Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3?English
14·1 year agoIt’s very similar to a clickbait article. I mean, it worked because I clicked on it to see what people said, but man, that title is super corporate.

News@lemmy.world•Man burns 100 Beachwood Public Library books on Jewish, African American, LGBTQ+ education: report
32·1 year agoHopefully they charge him the value of each of the 100 books on top of whatever criminal charges he would get for damaging library property. That should be over $1,000 just because of the sheer amount of books.

News@lemmy.world•New Bill Would Make All Pornography a Federal Crime in the U.S.
13·1 year agoIt’s very obvious that people like that have never truly experienced homophobia or transphobia where they live. Otherwise, they’d realize what they’re actually advocating for by not opposing authoritarianism.

9·1 year agoTrans women are definitely hot, but that’s because women are hot. Sad that Republicans feel shame finding her hot just because of what equipment she was born with.

World News@lemmy.world•Taliban suspends chess in Afghanistan over gambling concernsEnglish
5·1 year ago“No, we’re proud to have a zero tolerance policy at this school. That means we don’t have to investigate if a game involves gambling or if fights are truly fights rather than attacks. Everyone is punished equally. It’s very fair.”
werewolfborg@ttrpg.networktoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•So uh, this is just allowed on tumblr (kinda gruesome tbh)English
5·1 year agoYeah, I remember when Tumblr was full of users who were really obsessed with porn and smut in general.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The mods are asleep, post wide office chairs!
4·1 year agoI like to put my legs on the arm rests. Sometimes if I’m sitting “normally” (not fully sideways) I put just one leg up.
I feel the same but with soda in general unless it’s one of the real sugar sodas. I do actually like sodas a lot, but only for special occasions. I used to live within walking distance of a Rocket Fizz and would get a couple bottles once or twice a month. They had a punch card, but I wouldn’t get punches very fast even though I was really close.
Bunnicula got him.
I’ve seen ones that were custom painted and they look significantly better. It doesn’t stop them from being dumpsters on wheels, but at least they look finished.

politics @lemmy.world•RFK Jr. set to launch disease registry tracking autistic people
19·1 year agoThey don’t even have to kill anyone on purpose. They just have to force people to undergo experimental autism cures, which have historically killed patients. An example of this would be chelation therapy, aka using the medication used to remove heavy metals from the body under the (unconfirmed) assumption that autism is caused by heavy metals.
If a database is good enough to connect pharmacy records, medical records, and even health info from smart watches (which a doctor or insurance company would not have access to) then it would need to link patient info together in a way that’s not as anonymous as they claim it to be. Theoretically, this could be enough information to force someone into doing these experimental treatments in order to keep their driver’s license (even if they’re otherwise high functioning enough to not be hospitalized) or force someone to be hospitalized with promises of being taught to be more independent later down the line.
A company’s phone bot actually able to answer my questions properly? I’ve never seen it happen. You gotta scream the word “representative” multiple times or else it would put you through loops of utter nonsense. You can’t say it at a polite volume or else it will ignore it. You can’t just say it once because it will “argue” with you that it knows how to do things faster, which is never really the case.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What were you surprised to learn wasn't actually normal?
2·1 year agoI dream about buildings and city scapes. Everything that happens in the dream can be detailed, but the focus is on the architecture.

My dad is a Linux user so I guess being introduced to Linux lmao
Also the time he built a bluetooth boombox. And the time he modified old Roombas to be remote controlled.
