I’m using the android app and I’ve found it decent. I think the UI/UX could use some quality of life improvements but it’s a simple and straightforward app to use.

I’m not on the main pixelfed.social instance but mine went down for a bit this morning. I just waited a bit and then I was able to login again.

Mastodon and Lemmy also had a lot of trouble even they experienced these huge waves of migrations partly because no one had scaled the software this far before

I don’t do Instagram either but PixelFed has pretty chill vibes. I followed some hashtags like #cat and #nature and now I have a nice little feed of cats and nature.

It makes sense that they’re playing it safe this time around. They’ve already had successors to well selling consoles due to gimmicks (*ahem Wii U). The Switch is already a well selling console so it seems like they’re just making the same thing but with better performance and some usability improvements.

Ahsoka was disappointing to me because I watched clone wars and rebels and love the character.

Honestly though Book of Boba Fett was way worse in my opinion. Even the Mandalorian which has some good parts also has a lot that’s pretty meh

Yea that seems pretty high. I have a solo pixelfed server that runs around $5 / month. It doesn’t get a lot of use though

Yeah it’s like if you had a calculator and 10% of the time it gave you the wrong answer. Would that be a good tool for learning? We should be careful when using these tools and understand their limitations. Gen AI may give you an answer that happens to be correct some of the time (maybe even most of the time!) but they do not have the ability to actually reason. This is why they give back answers that we understand intuitively are incorrect (like putting glue on pizza), but sometimes the mistakes can be less intuitive or subtle which is worse in my opinion.

I’m definitely worried about what shenanigans they’re going to pull in November. They tried to steal the election in 2020 and they’re going to try again…and it seems like they learned a few lessons from the first time

The people saying it uses your phone’s Internet connection are incorrect. The vehicles have built in cellular modems and connect directly. The OEMs negotiate cellular contracts to provide service in their vehicles with ATT, Verizon, etc.

Features like remote locking/unlocking, etc. would not work if it relied on being connected to a phone.

It’s too late. If the Dems wanted to switch candidates they should have started 2 years ago. There’s not enough time to get aligned on a new candidate and ramp up a presidential candidate capable of the turnout necessary to beat Trump. And there’s too much at stake.

Biden dropping out would be a huge gift for Trump at this point.

I think it can benefit in certain situations. Like when we traveled to a European country we stayed in an AirBnB that was being rented out while the family who lived there was in summer vacation. So they essentially got to subsidize their vacation with Airbnb.

As far as units that are permanently Airbnb style short term rentals though I agree. Terrible for the actual residents in the city.
