I’ve seen around 3 occasions of that this week, altho I have never seen anything like it before.

if I remember correctly they were:

  • smack talking a mod (FlyingSquid) for saying not to report the same comment twice, when they were different comments, and the report was spam
  • someone comparing .world with .ml in politics (as in there was a comment saying "this post will be overrun with .ml people, and then a comment going “but you are from .world”) (Maybe Im part of the problem? I have been called out for being a fascist because I questioned the “puching nazis” theme)
  • one more which I can’t remember.

Anyways, what is all that about? Are people really starting to hate on 50% of the lemmy population because of their instance?

  • Lemmy.world users generally hold ridiculous, unrealistic leftist positions and do not have any concept of people who might have any other more moderate left positions

Lol is the only reasonable reply to such a comment. Truly astounding take.

Oh I don’t find the politics to be the problem, but the “I am going to read your words in the least charitable way” to be an annoying streak.

      • Left of center: means of production owned by the public.

Right of center: means of production owned by private companies.

Democrats and Republicans are both capitalists, they are right. What you may have been confused by is what the term liberal means to others. Liberalism at its core is government that leaves the people be while not trampling on the majorities will. It is intrinsically capitalistic as well. Locke… Franklin… whoever you really look at. France has a lot to look at there.

So in the U.S. we misuse the term to call democrats leftists, as leftists would view them as right of center. Center being the 0 point.

This is correct, though, liberals are right wing and Lemmy.world is a liberal instance.
