Dude has ties to Peter thiel, who fucking cares what an actor has to say about anything. Fuck this guy.
Well I definitely care what a multimillionaire actor thinks. He’s just like me.
Jgl is an actor. A very successful one. A very good one even. I would imagine that he has a lot of expertise on the shbject of acting, but his opinion on other things, whether theyre correct or nof, shoukd be considered with this in mind.
Doesnt mean hes wrong, and it doesnt mean hes right - the merits of an argument are that argument’s merits.

He is the founder of the creators coalition. which wants to be the industry’s voice at the table, calling for fair compensation, job protections and deepfake guardrails.
Ben Affleck is also an actor. A very successful one and he owned an ai company.
Cool.
Again though: him being an actor doesnt make him right and it doesnt make him wrong. An arguments merits are in the argument.
If he was an expert on the topic it would be reasonabke to give his arguments more weight because of that - he is not though.
To be clear: his arguments shiuld be judged on their own merits, not weighted one way or the other because of his profession.
This is reason number #42 why Lemmy > Reddit. The amount of posts about celebrity opinions on random subjects is staggering, then months later that celebrity is in some controversy and Reddit comments are shocked.
Reddit really had its “mom” moment around the time enshittification hit peak levels.
Celebrity gossip bullshit is everywhere - confessional posts about the details of peoples’ lives.
Ugh. Garbage. Fucking garbage. Nothing is about anything. Just a bunch of poorly socialized narcissists vomitting up their feelings into the void for validation.
Hey, he’s famous, show some respect! Everything he says is sacred and has to be cherished. If we stop listening to celebrities how would majority of people form opinions about anything? You expect them to read a book or something?
Unrelated, but I think he’d make a good T1000 now. Got that Robert Patrick look going on.
He was pretty robotic in Inception, it’s actually almost remarkably bad.
My favorite movie of his I actually found at the dollar store–Don Jon, a delightful little drama about Ital love and sexuality.
He’ll always be Tommy from 3rd Rock from the Sun
Agreed as well. Somewhat also related, I somehow am just now realizing that the actor (Robert Patrick) who played T-1000 was also the dad (aka White/Blue Dragon) in Peace Maker. I watched both the movie and show multiple times over the years.
Why is he posing like a fash politician?
Did AI hijack your girlfriend, Joseph?
