Anthropic’s proposed AI safety bill only kicks in if 50 deaths or $1 billion in damages are on the line — proposal would effectively make the Commerce Department the only agency capable of stopping an AI model

Would this be enough to keep an AI model from going out of control?

It definitely won’t take long to get to $1B in damages. The Huggingface incident alone was $100M apparently.

What about $1B in damages to the stock market? Done over and over already.

Until ONE RICH person looses that much, it’s not a problem.

A billion dollars lost across millions people doesn’t matter to them. Anthopic will not be sued.
