I’m in year 2, have 13 bars, a couple of purple sprinklers. I’m thinking of saving up for the desert totem. is there a better use? should I upgrade my pick

    Upgraded pick will save you time and energy, so absolutely.

    You can get desert totems from the trader (in the desert), but I don’t remember what she wants for it. Not as much material as building one yourself.

      Desert trader has totems for 3 omni geodes. Super cheap in my opinion. Just one good day in the mines can let you get like 20 totems.
