                It’s weird how often people try to pin it on me personally

                it is weird how often there are consequences to my own actions… 😆

                Me? I’m sticking with safe and legal. I lack the skills and resources to have a sliver of a chance at carrying out the other path successfully, let alone walking away from it with my freedom or life intact.

                so what exactly was your point? did you want to encourage others to do what you won’t do yourself? or were you under the impression that people actually don’t jave this very generic piece of knowledge and wanted it to share? guess what, most people lack the skill or resources to do that and get away free, or a will to martyr themselves for it, same as you.

                and the people who do have the skills and resources and would be willing to think about it don’t need your advice to do it.

                it’s like calling 911 to report that a building is on fire, and the operator asks why I’m not running into it with a bucket.

                no, it is like a voyeur watching a house on fire shouting “why isn’t someone running in with a bucket?” and when someone asks “well, why aren’t you?” they start producing some word salad hoping to drown their own words in it…

    The man has billions, he could retire and live a life of hedonistic bliss unavailable to any human in history.

    Instead he chooses to meddle in politics and signal boost the worst portions of humanity.

    I can’t find any fucks to give.

    As if he doesn’t also have millions of hollow-brained adoring money-worshipping fans who think he’s the best thing since the third reich. That should balance out the hate.

      I used to get death threats online pretty regularly. It definitely doesn’t balance out. That said, Musk has earned this. I’m not going to feel sad about a guy doing a fascist coup having his feelings hurt when people don’t like it

        I work in gender affirming care that includes pediatric populations and have my services listed online for referrals. It’s not super common to be fair but every once in a while I get an email or voicemail that’s like “you’re a child abuser and you should die” or some shit. It’s why I specifically say voicemail; I don’t answer calls to my business phone bc of this. Everything gets screened and I call back. Thankfully it’s infrequent and this has been enough to ensure I never have to engage with these people.

        You’re absolutely right though. I’ve posted about my work before and people will sometimes be like “thank you for doing what you do”. I appreciate that, and those comments outnumber these threats, which again are not very common, but they stick out. Even the ones that don’t wish me dead. Once I got an email that just said “f*g enabler”. I don’t know why I remember that. It was years ago.

        It’s the knowledge that someone out there absolutely hates you and wants you to die without knowing anything (really) about who you are, I think.

        The really sad part of this is that this is a core part of the minority stress model; that feeling constant oppression from the world around you is noxious and has measurable consequences on physical and mental health. If he and his dumb racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, etc cronies reflected on their experience and practiced empathy for even a moment they would realize that this stress is something experienced almost constantly by someone on their hit list, because of them.

        Edit: while I appreciate the positivity I genuinely didn’t mean for this to be a “please give me positive support” thing. I dunno I always feel awkward posting about this because it’s like I’m fishing for compliments at the expense of one of the most marginalized communities out there. You don’t need to thank me, though I do appreciate it quite a bit

      It should, if it’s organic. It probably ruins the magic when you know a large portion (who knows, maybe even a majority) of them are either literal bots or paid participants in disinformation campaigns.

    If I had his wealth, the world would be a different place and no one would know my name because I’m laying drunk on a beach somewhere. Then again, I’m not pathologically greedy (apathy), so I wouldn’t be able to accumulate that all in the first place.
