On Tuesday, Florida state Rep. Ryan Chamberlin introduced HB 599, a bill that would ban government employees from being required to use the preferred pronouns of their colleagues, prohibits the penalization of employees on the “basis of deeply held religious or biology-based beliefs,” and makes it unlawful for nonprofits or employers receiving state funds to require employees to undergo training on matters of sexual/gender identity or gender expression.

So I can go to work for the Florida government and call Ron DeSantis a she and if anyone complains, I can say it’s because of my deeply held religious belief that he’s a woman?

Always remember: When something starts out as “to protect the children” (as dubious as that claim often is), it’s always to get the foot of fascism in the door.

You can already just be a dick and use the wrong gender for everyone. If you want to be a hateful bigot and use the bible as protection for your hateful views, you can. You can just be the awful right wing person you are, but people will not like you.

Stop voting for Republicans, all they have is hate turned into laws nobody wants.

bill that would ban government employees from being required to use the preferred pronouns of their colleagues,

Ok, so time to just start calling EVERYONE by the ‘wrong’ pronouns…

Every place I ever worked asked me what I wanted to be called. And calling people by the name they prefer is just a sign of teamwork and the ability to work together. (A valuable work skill) Who would want to call people by pronouns or names they don’t prefer?

So as someone who deeply believes in the validity of trans people both on a religious and biological basis would I be exempted from being forced to misgender colleagues?

  • It is my deeply held biology-based belief that every Republican politician is in fact a giant cockroach from another planet wearing a human skin suit like Vincent D’Onofrio in Men in Black.

These non-stories are liberal rage bait. C’mon. One asshole introduces a bill and we all act like it’s a fait accompli.

Does anyone think both the Florida House and Senate will pass a bill that fucks with private enterprise like this? Donors would have a fit.

“Don’t Say Gay” has already cost us out our ass on tourism and convention dollars. They’re hardly going to push this even further.

…have you been paying attention? They’ve already been fucking with private enterprise. All that matters to them is the culture war. They’ve completely dropped the pretense that they’re about business.
