I’m on the verge of leaving my violent ex, and I’d like to keep my phone number I’ve had for 20 years. I can block his texts and calls, but he can leave his usual vile threats on my voice mail. I suppose it’s useful for legal reasons, but ugh.

I assume you’ve looked to see if your carrier has anything similar? ATT I think made it to help with the car warranty spam calls back then.
