It’s so scary that Microsoft is so willing to put such dangerous software in the hands of users with highly experimental ‘agentic’ agents; prompt injecting is still a terrifyingly easy vulnerability to exploit to this day. It could cause users to lose everything and Microsoft has already tried to foist responsibility onto users that enable the feature (instead of taking responsibility like they should and holding back this agentic bullshit).
Honestly, this is one of the reasons why I switched to Linux for good. As all of Microsoft’s recent actions have eroded what little faith I had in them to potentially do the right thing. In the end, this genie they’ve unleashed from it’s cursed prison is going to wreak havoc on the world for generations.
We are going to see a lot more “AI psychoses” and similar benders of lonely people being satiated with stimuli and agency deprivation while their data and wallets are harvested. Protect yourself with Linux.
The cases are already cropping up, it’s a matter of time before any of those lawsuits begin to bear meaningful fruit. By that time, though, so many lives are going to be ruined due to a those who let this genie out of the bottle without the correct restrictions or decades of research and development. These chuds will still be laughing their way to the bank, because America doesn’t hold the rich accountable in most circumstances.
It is high time that a court finds that something done by an AI carries the same responsibility as done by a company. So your AI autopilot or AI generated code made the plane/car/ship crash? Your AI chat bot provided minors with inappropriate content, or caused people to commit suicide? Eat the responsibility.
