        I feel like that makes slightly too much sense to be something trump would propose. At the very least, he’d have to be aware of them not being the same place, which is already giving him too much credit.

        I don’t even want to consider what he might be saying in two weeks, speculation like that brings only madness…

        edit: Wait did you mean he’s saying the tariffs are happening in two weeks because if so I’m dumb and you’re funny.

      I’m expecting Trump to loudly announce that he negotiated so hard, and really got Greenland/Denmark to bow to his mighty nogotiating talents, only to then reveal that what he negotiated is that the US is allowed to build several military bases (which they already could), and that they have gotten rights to extract a chunk of minerals (which they already could).

      Then the whole MAGA base will be thrilled with how big and strong their dear leader is…

      As this point everything is exactly as it were before he started threatening Greenland and Denmark, except for having lost a large chunk of trust around the world, and MAGA feeling emboldened.

      Then a few weeks/months down the line Trump will start threatening with an invasion again…

    It really looks like what he was doing and Europe signalling that they are willing to go to war with the US over the integrity of their territory was scaring his billionaire supporters. His own party would have turned against him. He must have realized that.

      I wish he’d just declare total war with Wakanda, Atlantis or something like that, so we can get back to business while he focuses on “updates” from the Pentagon.

        The Emperor Calígula declared war against Poseidon, had his army march to the English Channel, and ordered them to strike the water with their weapons and collect sea shells as spoils of war.

          tbf caligula most likely did that as a putative thing - he wanted to shame the army for some failure they blamed on the sea or similar. Trump lacks the wit to think of something like that - I don’t think you can tariff an army, and that’s basically the one hammer in his entire toolchest.

    They said I was going to impose tarrifs over the Greenland thing 👐. But I gotta say that’s not a thing I would do, I love tarrifs if it’s respectfully done. ✊ I impose beautiful and perfect 👌 tarrifs, people love my tarrifs ❤️ The best tarrifs 💸 like you’ve never seen before. 👀 Almost as much as I’d love Greenland 🙌and it’s people would love me, I gotta say.
