    You people.

You are pissed off at billion dollar multinationals using AI to do shitty stuff. But because they are untouchable for you you are celebrating some solo business person that is likely making less than minimum wage getting fucked over because they wanted to have the weekend off for once instead of answering support requests. You don’t care if you’re kicking up or down, you just want to kick.

Do you actually have an argument? You can try to make the world better, do nothing, or make it actively worse. Just making fun of people to feel superior or vindicated is the latter.

Any usage of AI is being complicit with the larger AI project of these billion dollar companies as it further legitimizes their use. So yes fuck this business person in particular, I hope the customer sues and he goes bankrupt. This is a literal leopardsatemyface moment, everything about this is completely self inflicted. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if they used their brain and considered not using a lying machine as a replacement for their customer support.

Did you read the article? Your description does not match events. He wasn’t trying to replace customer service, it’s a small business and he wanted nights off… And your statement that any usage of AI is idiotic. LLMs have existed since the 90s, are you saying any use of any machine learning which falls under that umbrella is “complicit”? Are you only including certain models? Is there a date cutoff from when you consider it a bad AI instead of a good LLM?

Oh look another shithead trying to pin me down by arguing semantics using the old “What even is AI” trick. Fuck you! I don’t care about shitty machine learning models from the 90s. I care about unethical companies stealing artists work and reselling it while causing ungodly amounts of pollution. Maybe I should just start banning everyone of you oh so reasonable shitheads. This is FuckAI not lets have a discussion and really get into the details what AI even is.

What an interesting way of admitting your issue isn’t with the business owner and you’re knowingly just being an asshole in his general direction so you can feed your rage boner.

You can go out there and organize, educate, do outreach to actually make a difference, or point a finger and laugh to feel superior. The latter is the same as getting drunk to forget about the world.

I’m sure you’ve done things out of not knowing any better. How would you feel about a thread like this?

Pointing the finger and laughing is not a “battle” dude. It is the lowest effort thing you can do. If you wanted to actually make a difference, go out there and campaign for AI disclosure laws, do AI outreach programs, really pretty much anything. Currently you are doing absolutely nothing.

I was talking about the customer in the story being in the battle against AI, this is the Fuck AI community so expect people to cheer for any time the humans win.

I think people in this comm mostly want to be angry against anything that involves LLM and the like. Which I can understand, I, too, hate those chatbots on every store begging you to use them. We cannot really tell from the post what happened. It could just as well have been one of those 24/7 service programs giving you directions which IMO are not terribly useful but for some people better than nothing. Maybe the small business failed to make a proper disclaimer.

So I will agree with you. OOP is the victim of AI, not a perpetrator.

I agree with you, chalk it up to a lesson learned for the small business owner. He likely doesn’t know better. Not everyone is as tech minded as Lemmy.

This behavior isn’t changing minds about AI. Just making people hate you and your cause
