There are plenty of reasons to believe that Democrats are headed toward a blue wave. Democrats are turning out in record numbers in primary contests even in “safe” races. They continue to over-perform in special elections, even flipping the state legislative seat that includes Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Added to that, the war in Iran is already causing Trump to crater with groups of voters that had boosted him to reelection such as Latino voters. And most major pollsters show that voters would overwhelmingly vote for a generic Democrat for Congress compared to a generic Republican.

But one of the biggest indicators of an impending Democratic win come November is the number of Republicans in the House of Representatives not running for reelection.

Yeah but I bet a lot of reds wearing blue cloaks are going to try to step in for easy seats.

    Be vigilant people!

I still haven’t forgotten in 2024 a Dem running for some government position literally advertised themselves as an old school conservative. Like dude that’s not how you drive out Dem voter s for your side and the MAGA base here definitely won’t support conservative light when the other side is running people like Josh Hawley.

For 12 years, being a bullshit-spouting conservative in the public space was more than halfway to a golden ticket. Maybe that time is coming to an end now.

And comments like yours give them permission to continue to do nothing. They’re scumbag politicians, and if you tell them that we’ll accept failure AGAIN, then that’s exactly what they’ll give us, and just keep on insider trading. They have never feared losing, because they think losing with integrity is good enough, and we have to make them understand that they have to fear us FAR more than they fear losing.

And your assumptions that they’ll just lose is contradicted by the fact that Dems have won something like 30 out of 30 special elections, and flipped a whole bunch. If Schmuck & Jeffries want to accept primary losses to progressive candidates who actually want to represent working Americans, then I’ll even support a going away party for them.

We’ve got to stay on top of them every second, and make sure they understand our demands, and there are signs that they are. Last Fall, they folded as soon as things got uncomfortable in the airports, and the outrage was ENORMOUS. They must have heard us, because this time they knew better, and have held tight, and there has been chaos in the airports, as people who still have enough money to fly their families on Spring Break, stood in line for hours, and pondered their past and future votes for MAGA.

Yeah it bears mentioning that what they call Democrats are actually Goldwater Republicans that arent on board with the Christian Sharia Law Culture War bullshit.

Other than that their policies are more in alignment with the Rs then theyd ever admit.

Still, if it comes down to the Goldwater Republican and the Christofascists, the Goldwater Republicans win hands down in my book. I just wish all the apoplexy over Socialism in this fucking country was reflected by there being actual leftists running for fucking office outside of a few key, heavily populated districts.

I wonder if Republicans even care. They are trying to implement ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer type system through systematic re-interpretation of Constitution by the Supreme Court. They are pretty much there with Trump having absolute immunity, withholding funds and declaring wars whenever he wants. So I think the question is if they are on tack to weaken Congress so much it will be irrelevant by the time Democrats take over?

The Republican party has gone completely bat-shit insane, and because of our de facto two party system that leaves the Democrats as our only real hope. A scary prospect, but that’s where we are. If the Democrats are going to save us, they have to humble themselves enough to learn the right lessons from their mistakes and make the right adjustments. That’s easier said than done, for sure, but that’s our best hope.

At least, that’s our best hope at the Federal level, but maybe we should stop looking to the Federal government as much and focus on our state governments more. I honestly think a lot more can be done at the state level and state representatives represent far fewer people than federal representatives, so there’s a better chance your state representative will listen to you.

The UK also has a FPTP voting system, and currently the 5th biggest party (Reform) is leading the polls, and the 8th biggest party (Greens) is 2nd: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_next_United_Kingdom_general_election#2026

If people start voting for non-genocidal parties, you could get a decent government - maybe not this election, but possibly the next. If you keep voting for evil, even the lesser evil, everything just keeps getting more and more evil after every election.

Yeah, and our system is nothing to be remotely proud of. It’s a fucking miracle that Reform and the Greens even have a look-in, and is entirely indicative of the two main parties completely shitting the bed. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when there’s a general election.

@MicroWave Trump tried before to illegally overturn an election that he lost. He knows that he cannot, under any circumstances, lose this one.

Whatever you think, do not be misled to believe that MAGA and the Republicans are turning on him. All the polls indicate that’s not true! Still 40% approve!

Trump will do ANYTHING to make sure that Democrats do not gain control of Congress. He’s laying the groundwork right now and he has lots of help!
