From Blackland Prairie Raptor Center
This Eastern Screech Owl was admitted to our Rehab Clinic. Part of our intake exam includes a careful examination of the eyes. We use an ophthalmoscope with a strong light for examining eyes. Then a yellow dye is placed in the eyes to help evaluate the cornea and diagnose various eye conditions. This little owl had no eye problems!

Sure looks ready for rehab in that picture.
It doesn’t look like they need to treat it for being emaciated! 😉
I just noticed in the main photo we can see the dye added to the eye. Neat!
“Who dares wake me?”
I got to meet one of our new patients, Meatball, and he also looked quite annoyed we woke him up and it wasn’t to feed him, just to stare at him and make silly noises.

Weird looking owl but I’ll take it
We’re a medical and educational facility…we don’t judge here. 😄
