From Trevor Hardaker
A nocturnal machine of note… Verreaux’s Eagle Owl (Ketupa lactea) occurs widely in wooded savanna across sub-Saharan Africa.
It is the largest Owl on the African continent and also one of the largest in the world. It eats other Owls for breakfast… quite literally at times… It has even been known to kill a Pel’s Fishing Owl in Botswana, a species not much smaller than it, although this was possibly a threat removal, rather than looking at it as food…
Afrikaans name - Reuse-ooruil

How large, in inches?
That’s a bit personal, don’t you think? You should at least buy the owl dinner first.
It is the 4th longest owl in the world at up to 26 inches tall, with a wingspan of up to 65 inches.
While not as large as the largest eagle owls (Siberian), they are usually as long as the eagle owls of Europe most of us think of when we think of a really big owl.
