Welcome to the future!
They seem to do more damage to themselves when falling over than actually inflicting anything on their opponent…
That’s true of a few BattleBots contenders.
Funny, too.
I can picture these wearing cop uniforms, running you down at night for jaywalking ,and believe it may be one of our possible futures.
I’m pretty sure the odds of this are 100%. Except it’ll be military bots… and they’ll be purging the poor and middle class, because once you have robots to do all the other stuff the next step is to reduce the population.
If you and your group control all the raw resources and manufacturing is fully automated, and you have robots smart enough to do all the manual tasks, you don’t need profit, you get to wipe out most of the population and create your paradise.
Not enough people realize we are morlocks, and the Billionaires think they are the Eloi
But everything is driven by profit. I don’t think the 1% will be able to pivot to reduced profit for better stability/comfort.
Profit only matters when you don’t already own everything, power is the only thing that matters.
But how quickly will hackers be able to gain total control of them? Cops will probably have the administrator password as “password123” or some shit. Or maybe instead of engaging in combat directly, they’ll just be running humanoid cameras, lunging after you no matter how quickly you run, or whatever fence you jump over. Long gone will be the days when you could simply outrun the overweight, poorly trained cops. Now these things will be just inches behind you, the whole way blaring sirens and recording your every move. 😐
The spinning jump kick of the law.
Stop right there! Or I won’t be able to jump kick you!
They fly now? They fly now.
Don’t worry, they make them look like people as a silly game, we’ll be chased down the street by drones.

The acronym immediately made me think of this.

I’d still put my money on a battle bot any day of the week.
“What?! Your heads off!”
“Tis’ but a flesh wound! HAVE AT YEE!”
*I love how one of the presenters is choke-laughing the whole time after it’s head comes off
I feel like that should be disqualifying. Or at least, the robots should be compelled to use the swinging head as a mace.
This show is obviously just to bait people into making better fighting robots for the military, free of charge.
This looks sad. The obsession with humanoid robots is making less and less sense by the decade.
Support your local robot battle scene.
The obsession is actually in search of new tech markets to dominate. AI race, Ev Race, Solar Panel race, gig-economy race. There’s so much money and “realpolitik” in each of these. Sometimes early investments pay off like EV industry and sometimes they absolutely do not - gig economy race for example.
This seems like new reality - chase to dominate big general markets and China is absolutely winning everything from EVs and solar panels to literally fishing out every fish out of existence within the next few decades if not less.
This is really bad.
Pointless if their heads don’t pop straight up and make a “ziiiiiiing” sound.
So that’s gonna be our future. Fighting robots that uncannily get back up with their head dangling on their back.

Best learn how to fashion an EMP cannon from household parts.
I guess it is like watching toddlers walk, but why the random breakout into dance moves? Also how do they target? Seems like they just generally point at the other one.
My guess is that they are remote controlled and the operators of the white robot saw that they were winning, so they hit the dance button in the hopes of scoring some points with the audience.
Instead of fighting each other they should do a laundry folding competition. That would be really impressive!
Indeed, a fitted sheet competition!
Sounds like a strong way to get the robots to want to kill us all
Total dogshit game

This will probably be awesome 10-20 years from now.
10-20 years from now, these thigs will be gunning down people in the streets
Time to start designing antibot drones then I guess.
Looks real the same way WWE looks real. I mean, you gotta love the skill/tech used to achieve these feats, but real robots fighting with no restraint wouldn’t need to take a few seconds to dick around after every kick.
This is pretty fucking futuristic, even if they do miss each other a lot!
It doesn’t look like they’re autonomous to me, it looks like they have a pre-programmed set of movements (like the kick-variants we’re seeing, and the “get up” motion), and being controlled by someone outside the ring. That also fits with the way they’re missing: it’s hard to get proper alignment when you’re looking from the side, and the pattern for how they’re missing looks a lot to me like how you often miss if you try to line up e.g. a remote controlled toy car on an opening to drive through when you’re sitting off to the side.
Oh yeah, totally.
Still really futuristic!
Oh absolutely! It’s cool as hell! I think it could be even cooler if they put a camera in the robots head so that the controller could get the right point of view, that would probably make it more easy to be accurate.
Stereoscopic vision with a VR headset would be an experience … until the head gets knocked off, lol
That being said, a lot of the movements are fast and jerky, so it might just be a nausea maker
