Nintendo is not your friend. It has no interest in passing any of its potential savings onto you, and the only reason it’s ever interested in your bank account is when it’s thinking about how much money it can get out of it.

I think it is more that whether benevolent or malevolent there are more decisions that align with what PC gamers want compared to other gaming companies.
Like push for Linux and trying to make it more accessible to the average user. Compared to where Linux was when the first Steam Machine came out and how much more user friendly it became after the Steam Deck is one area. Still lot of work to do, but leaving Microsoft behind isn’t as daunting as it used to be for gamers.
With other consoles the stands outs are more the exclusives.
But, there are more clashing of ideas like paid online, requiring locked down hardware, and inability to install whatever you want on consoles. Console ecosystem has been much more confrontational just because of being a closed ecosystem for those that want a more open one.

Hell we lost on some fixed price jobs at my work because we priced things before the tarrifs went in and by the time we ordered we were basically paying to finish a promised job. I’m in total agreement here, except for the fact that this is a separate issue. Nintendo didn’t bring about the tariffs but they are the ones asking for the refund and deciding not to give it back to the people who paid that money in the first place, so while they aren’t to blame for the tariffs, they are to blame for keeping the tariff refunds.

As if anyone needed more reasons to stop giving Nintendo any money. The Switch2 is hardly an improvement, the games library sucks for the value (that never decreases), their online features are still stunted in the 2000’s era, and shocking no one, their company culture towards customers is “fuck you”.
Fuck corporate greed. My library rents switch games and for every three games I rent, only one is something I might pay for (but don’t have to). Who wants to spend 90 plus dollars just to take a chance on a game you might play for 10 minutes and decide you don’t like it?
Hence why we should be fighting for rights with digital goods. eBooks can be checked out at the library, albeit not without multiple fights to get something relatively fair, and there’s no good reason why this can’t be implemented for all other digital goods, other than like you said, corporate greed.
Well the only reason why I didn’t get switch 2 because that’s the very first Nintendo console that you can’t pirate. And I really don’t mind.

The buyers paid the extra tax to Nintendo to cover Nintendo’s extra cost. Then Nintendo gets a rebate on the tax. So they just got that extra tax money for no fucking reason.
