Maps with ONLY New Zealand.
And all of Polynesia, it’s just really hard to see a bunch of islands.
Bonkers that people managed to navigate to those islands without GPS.
If you’ve not tried it out, Wade Davis tells this story best in The Wayfinders (2009 Massey Lectures). He was consulted on Moana, which did well, but not as well as his book.
Also, if you’re a reader, Massey Lectures are a great set of readings.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Not only without GPS, but with some kind of map that isn’t scale to the night sky and generally defies Western understanding of maps and assisted navigation
If I recall correctly they did it with some kind of reading of wave patterns, possibly along with winds and stars.
They navigate to those islands without compasses.
that’s why they get excluded from all the others
It’s on the back. I get it now.
Somebody just doxed the whole of New Zealand
I don’t see it. I know Australia is just around the corner to the left, and Chile to the right, but based on all of my other maps, that’s just empty ocean! Anything else is woke.
Adding /s because someone will take me seriously…
I’ve seen it in real life and it looks way bigger than that little 5cm circle
Where’s plastic island on this?
Well it’s not so much an island as a vast area with a lot of plastics of various sizes and two convergence points roughly before Japan and California with currents transporting material between them in a loop around Hawaii.

I think the islands in the bottom is New Zealand, so the small islands top left is probably Hawaii and California/Mexico barely visible at the top. That would mean that nearly a quarter of the top left rim until behind the horizon (Japan) is where the Great Pacific Garbage Patch roughly is.
That’s nothing like the true size of the Pacific Ocean, it’s only a few inches across.
The whole land thing has been one huge psyop by the landlords. In the ocean doesn’t matter who owns the floor just swim above it dummy.
Also you get to just chill being a fish, instead of paying taxes for elon’s new Earth-Inceniracorp venture.
Pitcairn island is one of the weirdest communities in the world
It made me think about the maps that underline how it’s only one big ocean for marine animals, with only different salinity, temperature, flow and stuff…
Now, imagine you’re flying from New Zealand/Australia to South America. That’s directly across that part of the globe. It’s a LONG flight across nothing but ocean
Earths wet bottom
I’ll show myself out
From how far?

Think of all the extra continents we could fit on there!
It only takes a few decades to wilden an artificial island, regardless of the size
Hey I can see my house from here
Wait, is it at pixel (157,472)?
