    Which platforms are?

Because it seems like Facebook users love AI content with hot chicks and Twitter has its own child porn/content creating software.

Omg boomers here simping after some blond chick faker than fake tits because the whole thing is AI. The bot spreads pro Russian AFD propaganda.

These brain dead zombies are a demographic majority and they somehow manage to vote. They don’t understand they are fapping to AI but they can vote.

I was subscribed to Medium with my work account. I was already contemplating if it’s worth the price due to the ungodly amount of articles about how to use AI, which AI tools etc. Today I got an email from them. The content was basically, you don’t really hate AI articles, you just want “trustworthy” articles, and those can be done with AI too. Guess who unsubscribed.

If airplanes had a 1/3 chance of crashing for the first several years of commercial aviation, I don’t think many folks would be all too open to being told “you don’t hate airplanes, you hate crashing, we can fly safely too”

Gaslighting. Pure And simple. Which, is and has always been, one of the most disgusting tactics an abuser deploys for self-serving reasons.

I fucking hate Medium almost as much as I hate the tech industry’s disregard to earning our consent through honesty.

I was recently ordering food delivery, and a local restaurant replaced most of their image-free menu items with AI generated photos. (Some of their items always had real photos, but most didn’t until the AI photos were added)

I ordered from somewhere else and sent the first restaurant an email that I didn’t order from them due to the AI images of the food.

Also, fuck Thuisbezorgd for adding AI photo generation. I would have not ordered anything but it was already late and the family was hungry.

If I see a restraunt that has all AI images of their food I automatically assume it’s a ghost kitchen and refuse to buy from it. Ill take a low quality phone cam pic of the food over AI because at least I know what I’m getting and know it’s real.

Fuck thuisbezorgd! They removed the reviews in favor of the star-rating so you’ll never know if this restaurant actually matches your preferences or not. Horrible shitty enshittfied so out to investment capital company.

There was a story linked here in the last few weeks that talked about backlash against a cafe in San Francisco that replaced their menu screen photos inside the cafe with AI-generated ones. They were horrific, made the food look like crap. It was a really incredible decision for a restaurant manager to make.

They will shove it down our throats, regardless.

I was conversing with a coworker, the other day. He told me that his wife used to work in SEO. She now focuses on AI marketing. I brought up companies that try to manipulate reddit to get mentions and he affirmed that’s what she does. What an evil cunt.

I played it like I’m joking that she’s evil. Fuck her.

Just because we’re on the echo chamber of Reddit rejects, doesn’t equal Reddit being minuscule.

Reddit is still living with a huge base of users.

Having deleted my account recently I’m not so sure anymore. Before I left, a lot of comments lacked coherence, and many were in the wrong language. I think the bots are finally outnumbering the real users for specific communities.

There’s a huge market for slop: junk food, slop entertainment, fast fashion. We’re a planet of slop lovers. AI slop will remain popular among many.

AI is new, but slop has always existed. Just think of reality shows, elevator music, reader’s digest, mid-afternoon novelas, generic pop music. There has always been content created for the lowest denominator, specifically for passive consumption, designed to reach the biggest possible audience and with no artistic intentions whatsoever, and a huge quantity of people to mindlessly consume it.

        Sadly, often.

It is sticking the most common content into a blender and dispensing the result according to a few tweaks. I have seen a lot of people eat that up.

Same reason why there’s so much money in low-effort mobile gaming.

It’s one of the things that really sucks, people with creative talent that would otherwise be rewarded and have their vision shared for lack of too many other options being drowned out by a flood of no-effort slop that the masses are just fine with.

you really think the general pop of the US cares about AI slop??? Maybe on reddit and lemmy they do but like 7% of americans think chocolate milk comes from chocolate cows. That’s the level of stupidity that we’re dealing with here. You think the avg american can even recognize ai slop when they’re looking at it?

I’ve accidentally come across ai instrumental beats a few times. They always lack any sort of soul, I suppose adequate for some background noise but tends to be quite repetitive vs say nightmares on wax or bonobo. I can’t imagine they do well in any other genres, I feel like instrumental should be one of the easier music genres for ai to try to “create”

The pictures were easier to spot than the music itself, at least for me.

And how many pretty crisp sounding lost albums by soandso could possibly exist.

EDM based or fantasy style AI generated music I’ve noticed tend to work better than the other genres like D&D style fantasy music has become super popular among AI composer artists

I have to say I haven’t noticed them lacking a soul, but I also don’t think that they are full AI songs. I think there’s still someone making the lyrics and then just using AI for the actual music.

I wonder if this related to the uptick of the focus on cultural/artistic “taste” I’ve been noticing in the tech sphere (including in this very Wired article).

For context: I had an interview with a tech company that’s a secondary player in the AI sphere, and they asked me about Pierre Bourdieu and my “Pinterest aesthetic preferences” of all things. Very wtf moment.

You are really a genius for figuring that out!

But it is not true that people don’t want to read AI slop — of course they do, and I’m happy to provide that for them. If such people claim to not love AI — they are clearly mistaken.

Here’s some things I can do for you:

    • Compose a social media post about how awesome AI actually is
    • Give you a list of talking points to make in favor of AI
    • Log in and hack people who disagree and delete all their personal data so it’s lost forever except the copy Google has of it

    ( /s ? ) :)

The world’s polarized even more with this slop. It’s affecting everyone, and worse, not just corporations literally normalizing AI – influencers telling people to go out make some more slop for millions in fuck-you money – but even governments convinced this is bonanza and all must wear the mark of the beast.

    Keep the Butlerian Jihad going.
