I replied to someone saying that the USSR defeated the Nazis saying that it was a group effort. Got into an argument and called a Nazi repeatedly because “I was mad that the USSR defeated the Nazis and hated them for it” which is ridiculous. This isn’t the first time that’s happened on Lemmy. What’s up with that?

It reminds me of the olden days when inter-forum and later inter-subreddit drama was more of a thing. Meta reddit basically died as it got turned into a dripfeed of algorithmic misery rather than a collection of boards, but Lemmy is literally a collection of decentralised boards so it’s just reverting to the norm.

America literally hired former Nazis to write the history of the eastern front and did so knowing over looking his intentional rewriting of history to whitewash both the Nazis in general in the eastern front, and the generals specifically (Blaming Hitler for military decisions with bad outcomes.)
