Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I'm new to lemmy, came from reddit. What's the lemmy etiquette like? How different is it from reddiqutte?English
48·7 days agoAnd the lack of karma also leads to more comments, as well. I liken lemmy to what the internet used to be like, where conversations among strangers happened regularly. It’s very rewarding and wholesome. Definitely not the “antisocial media” that reddit prides itself on.

Amateur Radio@lemmy.radio•[FoAR] Foundations of Amateur Radio - A new year with new services to the public .. in 1905 #podcastEnglish
3·21 days agoYou see, wire telegraph is a kind of very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, and they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat.
I’ve seen this before, and for whatever reason I always imagine Mark Twain saying it. It sounds like the way he would have explained something complex.

Maybe they’ve learned their lesson? Haha?
