The thing people don’t realize is that we already have universal healthcare, but in a stupid, cruel way. A hospital will treat anybody, but they’ll go into debt for the amount they “should” have paid, while everyone who does pay already pays for those who can’t.

Also - If anyone reading this is uninsured and needs medical attention - get treatment and ignore the bills. Medical debt might as well be imaginary. It’s essentially ignored by credit bureaus. Hospitals sell it off to debt collectors who will try to get you to pay, but just end up selling it off again and again until it goes away 99.99% of the time.

Don’t ignore something potentially serious over financial concerns.

This is not really true though. If you need cancer treatment and don’t have insurance (or if your insurance won’t cover treatment) you can’t just walk into a hospital and demand to see a specialist, much less get surgery or chemotherapy.

Yes they will take you in for your last moments and put you in a corner to die, but that is not what people normally think of as healthcare.
