It’s funny, because I remember when I learned about trans people. My mother was watching some episode of Dr Phil, where the person on the show was a trans man and the episode revolved around Phil essentially insulting him and telling him hebwas just a confused woman… But in my egg brain I just thought “wait… You can DO that? I can just be a girl???”

The implicit admission that “out of sight, out of mind” is the first line of defence of thought control they’re desperately trying to maintain is too funny.

Ah yes the old " constantly talking about them" argument, this time the shoe is on the other foot though.

They tried to show the clip where he says “God is nonbinary” as a point against him, but I only imagine kids from religious families going “wait that makes sense to me.”

That commercial included several things which are pretty much just in the text. I learned them in bible class as a child, read them myself as a teen, and discussed them with a professor to boot.

They’re entirely banking on Christians who don’t know much about the bible, which tbf is most of them. Sort of like how a lot of leftists don’t read theory.

Given that our only solid eyewitness account of God is ‘burning shrub’, yeah. I mean, did Moses check to see if the shrub had seed pods???

His pfp got changed to Jupiter’s mugshot after the Catholic church ate Rome.

Moses also saw the butt! Besides the obvious fact that it was a perfect butt, and also a good butt, Moses said nothing illuminating with regards to the masculinity or femininity of the aforementioned observed posterior.

My evangelical parents (and church) taught me this 30 years ago. It wasn’t a big deal then. How odd.

Yes, the funniest part of this whole media campaign is that it’s going to make “holy Trinity” sermons super awkward for years to come.

I first noticed american republicans pushing transphobic rhetoric around ten ish years ago or so. I want to be informed on issues that may arise during an election, so I had to research trans issues. All this was a direct result of that hateful rhetoric.

I learned a lot about gender, and trans people, and it prompted me to consider my own gender which I really hadn’t done before. It took time after that to accept myself as trans, and even longer to be ready to do anything about it.

If politicians had just left trans people alone I doubt I would have figured myself out by now.

Whinging… That’s the perfect way to describe it. Like that one kid in grade school that nobody liked that was insistent on telling on everyone.

      I’m keeping that, thanks.

All the us Americans talking about some politician again, guess it’s time for me to find out who they are.

    —

So, according to the political positions listed on his Wikipedia, he’s a guy who’s mostly against anti-trans legislation and who generally says that we should listen to what medical professionals have to say. THIS is what all the republican fearmongering is about? A guy who sometimes is not in support of their repressive policies?? Is this what left-wing means in Texas???

Election day anytime of year needs to be a “trans day of visibility” as we all go and vote.

I think it was that he thought it should be fair and not managed by the state, but rather at the community level.

I as a trans adult also think it should be fair, a certain amount of time on hormones/androgen blockers for example, but what that means to him IDK.

      edited for clarity

I think that it’s more so that athletics associations like the NCAA or whatever their state-wide high school athletics associations that would be legislating it. And school boards. Granted it’s not great and throws trans kids from conservative communities under the bus too because those school boards can be crazy. It’s better than prohibition from the state level of government though

That was what he said. No I don’t think it should be legislated, just fair which is what I was referring to.

My point is, it’s not legislation or lack thereof that arbitrates fairness. There can be fairness outside of the law, and there can be fairness under the law. The law is not a sacred thing, it’s just the opinion of a few privileged assholes. And it happens to be their opinion that they ought to be allowed to lock you up or kill you if you decide to disregard their opinions.

Why does it need to be law?

The whole point is it shouldn’t be regulated by a cm government, but by the individual sports association.

How does government make if fair?
