Ah go on, get into warhammer. You know you always wanted to :)
Might I suggest turnip28 as a cheaper, easier, and funnier alternative?
with totally not 3D printed proxies and absolutely legally obtained rules pdfs ofc
3D printing fits the bill, just get a hobby level printer that requires tinkering. I’m still rocking dual Ender 3s from 5 years ago.
And even if you get a printer that doesn’t require as much tinkering, like Bambu ones, then you can just get way to into 3D modeling instead!
The printer we can check out of the school district is definitely not hobby level. I’m a little too intimidated to check it out
Oh cool! Didn’t see there was a dedicated community!
I’ll crosspost it!
I was going to thank you for introducing me to this new community.
Turns out I’m already joined.
…why are these not in my feed except once every few days then???
Maybe because there is only a new post every few days?
See the change you want to be in the world or something get fuckt and live fast and all
A little magic the gathering never hurt anyone (warhammer was already mentioned)
Universes beyond got me pulling the rip cord and bouncing from that hobby.
Yeah, I played MTG back during the original ravnica block.
This universes beyond thing doesn’t do anything for me.
That’s around the time I started. Now I just make decks based on older sets so my friends have a chance with their power crept cards.
unless you don’t want the looming threat of armed pinkertons at your door telling you you can’t use your pieces of cardstock
Never in history have we had this much free knowledge into new interests and skills so easily accessible for us. There are a huge number of options that are really cheap.
When people go to Netflix, they open the app, and scroll for 45 minutes trying to find the perfect movie or show.
Then they pass out on their couch in their underwear as their cat licks their ear to wake them up. Even the cat is like “c’mon dude. It’s bedtime”
And then you wake up the next day, and suddenly you got 40 missed notifications because your dad had a seizure last night, and is in the hospital. You would have heard the phone ring, but you were asleep. If you had been engaged, and watching the 1993 movie Super Mario Bros, you’d have heard your phone. But you got overwhelmed by choice, and fell asleep instead.
Now your dad thinks he’s Rodger Ebert, so he has started dressing in balerina tutu’s. You try to explain to him that Rodger Ebert never wore tutus. And he says “YES I DO!” as he starts doing dance moves from the 1950s.
All this because you couldn’t decide what to watch in your hubris of options!
I like beans
I’m so glad software is a good portion of my hobbies. Most of the time, it’s free, and when it’s paid, it’s usually a best-in-class product and rather enjoyable to use compared to the free alternatives.
They said growing weed is cheap… It is fun though.
Beyond equipment, good genetics can cost a pretty penny or two.I am like on the very edge of buying stuff to try to learn to shoot and develop film. I’m not a good photographer, it is going to be so expensive, but for some reason it’s a skill I keep wanting to learn for like years
Well Jake the dog always said:

But with some hobbies, the thing you get good at is being poor.
Shut up about my bike y’all
Isn’t B&W pretty cheap to get into? You should watch the Technology Connections series on film developing.
Having a buddy with the same hobby can be great! Share equipment!
Low-recurring cost hobbies are neat even if you need several hundred or thousand bucks worth of gear to get into them—mountain biking (or maybe cross-country skiing?)!

I’ve always done gaming but nobody does LAN parties around here and I have no friends.
Stay out of my goon cave y’all
: looks at stack of four synthesizers:
I swear there were only two last week…
