    They put a lot of work into “streamlining” a vehicle that I doubt could top 40 MPH.

    No matter what one does, a tank will be stopped. The name of the game is to churn them out, rounded plates make them much slower to build.

      In the Spanish Civil War, a lot of work was not industrialized as we would recognize it, but very localized and ad hoc. This is likely from a bunch of worker militia at a local factory realizing their choices for transport are “Car or car with plates riveted to it”, and choosing to take the extra day or so to bang out the plates from whatever stores were on hand and have something that might stop at least SMG rounds from perforating everyone inside.

      Round is easy if you’re casting it though. Casting molds don’t like sharp corners. This armor obviously wasn’t cast though, these are plates.
