Wow the colors are genius
I want a ghibli like movie with his palette
People would say it’s based on Moebius
These make me feel so nostalgic for some reason. Absolutely adore these.

Holy fuck whaaaat how have I never seen this guy before wowzaa
A lot of his contemporaries were also incredible artists that don’t get the recognition they deserve- NC Wyeth, Howard Pyle, Thomas Anshutz. The one exception that became a household name is Norman Rockwell. Some of it is because they were illustrators (commissioned for print/reproduction) rather than fine artists, but mainly because the the titans of art at this time were the likes of Picasso, Matisse and Duchamp and their radical new visions made representational art look dated and stale.
I mean, all of them are impressive but it’s hard to paint snow and he nailed it.
I post so many paintings of snow and water for this very reason. The way light plays off them creates spectacular results in all sorts of artstyles
I hadn’t seen the first piece before (“Close of Day”), and thought perhaps its charming gauziness was mainly down to digital limitations in that particular file, but no-- it really does look like Parrish painted this to capture that specific visual aspect. Amazing.
For example, what I compared it to:
https://imginn.com/p/DJzka2DtGSy/It looks like a film photo, but if the film and exposure settings weren’t correct for the failing light.
I really like it.
