A Florida couple argued that school officials violated their rights by honoring their child’s request for a different name and pronouns without first informing them.

Schools should be able to provide hormone blockers to trans kids without telling abusive parents with the referral from the school councillor. They’re already administer vaccines on school grounds.

Don’t forget parents who don’t want public schools to be shoving the 10 commandments and other religious indoctrination in their kids’ faces every day.
Lots of parents think their children are dolls they can mold into something they think “perfect” to show off to other people, or want them to be clones of themselves they can control. Those people deserve to have them taken away or losing contact with them forever.
I’m just hoping to mold mine into a decent human being. Anything beyond that is up to my offspring’s own best judgement.
I’m sure most of them never hear from their child again the moment they turn 18, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
The parents sued, calling it a “secret gender transition plan” and arguing the school violated their constitutional rights by withholding information about their child’s gender identity.
These parents are bad. If they were reasonable people their child would feel comfortable talking to them.
If a parent needs a state and courts to enforce their parenting, those aren’t good parents.
Gotta have state enforced child abuse!
i don’t know, there is a whole world out there with an interest to manipulate, exploit, and abuse children (and people generally). a few parents can only do so much to protect their children from that. they need support from a larger community.
of course parents in this case are horrible and abusive and not fighting some actual big evil, and states are a pretty bad replacement for actual community support.
If you’re the kind of parent that will sue all the way to the supreme court in an attempt to control your child, your the kind of parent your child won’t be able to turn to for support.
The kind of parent who harasses their kid into their 50s.
Little tangent: I read the headline as ‘rejected’ instead of ‘respected’ got mad, read the article and was yelling ‘that’s the opposite of what you said!’ Then I read the commends and was all ??? So I re-read the headline and noticed my mistake…
That kid is going to leave the house as soon as possible
