The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Remastered boasts remastered visuals, enhanced combat, improved movement, enhanced monster behaviors. A skill tree revamp, transmogrifications, new finishers, and so much more. The fantastic Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are included. The upgrade is free for all Witcher 3 owners. Coming Sept. 29, 2026.
And its free for existing owners?!? Very cool CD: PR
This is in promotional budget for W4, which while explains the generosity, doesn’t make it less cool.
There’s also a new paid DLC for The Witcher 3 that is not included in the upgrade.
DLC is underselling it, it’s a whole new expansion.
Not only is it free, we get the previous 2 DLCs for free as well.
“That’s disrespectful for those who paid for it”
Surely some asshats on the internet
The reason why Factorio never goes on sale. The developer says its disrespectful and anti consumer to do this. :D
Expansions*
Cant wait for geralt to tell me the weather again.
If even HotsauceHurricane isn’t interested to know that the wind’s howling, devs have no chance of making interesting character barks.
😂
The winds are howling
Meanwhile, at Bethesda, “We’re gonna release a Skyrim patch that’s disappointing for console players and a pointless nuisance for pc players! TES6 is never coming out! Our best game is maintained by the community and nearly everyone agrees it’s better that way! mwah hahahahahah!!!”
Witcher 3 is on sale on GOG right now. The same GOG that just released one click installation of Tamriel Rebuilt and Openmw for Morrowind.
The thing that is maddening (if you care that much) about Bethesda is there has been various fucking blueprints for how to fix their fucking game for eons made by fans but they just don’t give a flying fuck, here’s a random fix for a mesh in a dungeon no one visits.
And they always break all the mods when they do these updates too! Nobody wants them to update the game, because half the mods aren’t even being worked on anymore and now they’re basically unusable.
Another remaster? Wasn’t it updated already?
This is great support from the creators! Looking forward to it.
The previous update was a “Next Gen” version, with mostly graphical changes like the addition of RayTracing. This new Remaster however seems to be more indepth in the changes, affecting lot of gameplay, like adding new functionality and a skill tree, lot of little features too. I think of this new Remaster version comparable to what they did with the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update, which could have been called a Remaster too, if it wasn’t a new game.
It got a visual refresh not too long ago, but this seems to be a lot bigger with some actual gameplay changes like a reworked skill tree and updated combat.
Played it a long time ago. Looking forward to play it again. Propably the GOG version this time
Does it make a difference if you play it on GOG? I mean from the games perspective, not the DRM free download.
There goes my modded save file 🥲
I hope I find a way to transfer it to this and the new dlc. Now to finish the game before Sep 29 in case I don’t…
Not gonna lie, I’ve sunk around 100 hours into this game(no dlcs), and it’s felt like such a one-trick pony. Good main story is well written. Cool. Indeed.
Gameplay is so incredibly ass after the first 20 minutes, where the game looks promising, so it builds anticipation for all the rpg systems, that fail hard at their jobs. Economy, Levels, and crafting, are ass the moment you start using them.
And by god, the secondary writing of the micro-quests that are supposed to make the world feel lived in was “passable filler” at its best, and the “Follow the Orange Highlight” was unavoidable half the time.
It is a game that was cobbled together around a book’s story, and honestly has aged horribly.
And honestly, seeing them re-release it a-la Skyrim, after Cyberpunk’s whole ordeal, feels like such a Corporate move.
(Getting it in before someone tries to tell me it’s going to have revamped systems according to the release trailer, forgive me for not trusting the company until the game comes out and we see the results… In the meantime, I’ll be waiting to see how much they charge for the repair and prettying up of a game they already made ten years ago. I hope I’ll be proven to be just a negative Nancy.)

It’s free. It’s there in the trailer.
Well fuck me, I'll take that L. I was proven a negative Nancy.Complaining about a free upgrade to a game you personally didn’t like is weird. What, you have to go out of your way to let us know you don’t like it? Dude you’re literally a meme.

I’m extremely curious what other games you have played where sidequest content is better written than in W3.
The issue I had was that there were too many and you had level progression issues with too much xp if you did most of the sidequests in a area and they didn’t update so it was dumb to do it later when you come back and you’re way overleveled.
Yeah that’s a much more reasonable criticism. There is an option to enable enemy upscaling which helps if you get overleveled.
You’re giving me Zelda-Breath-of-the-Wild-fan vibes
A game which came out after the Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2, and learned nothing from the best.
Super cool. Loved the game and the ability to wander around and find something interesting going on. Many games I’ve played cough Zero Dawn cough don’t really have a lot going on outside the main story (in my experience) I might have to track down a complete armour set one of these days.
Hate how the armour sets have a bonus but you’ll probably never upgrade them far enough to activate it…
I still play it and hate how all the changes probably mean I won’t be able to transfer my save.
transfer your save? what do you mean?
you’re telling me you’re not starting over on purpose for the 100 time like the rest of us?
I got kids, man. The struggle is real
paam paraaaam
(•̪ o •̪) Very excited to dive back in.
Great, I’ve been meaning to play Witcher 3 for ages and it’s nearly reached the top of my ‘play next’ list. Be nice if the remaster runs on steam deck.
