    private insurance still exists for the very rich or as supplemental insurance.

      Yup. There are private health insurance companies/hospitals in Australia where i live. They provide better food, your own room etc. Ain’t nothing wrong with the public system, really. But private health insurance is there.

            Me either! 🤣 But I’ve been witness to a few sports club/workplace injuries that have private insurance involved. You get to recover in a nicer room, but the procedures seem to always be in the same public hospital us peasants use.

              Yeah. You get to jump the queue for elective / non-critical stuff. And even if the surgery is in the private system it’s usually the same doctor. I had a pretty serious surgery done, and it was in private hospital, but the same doctor does 2 days private and 2 days public every week.
