The entire planet is paying the price of yet another illegal US military action.

They are? Lol. The US is losing power at an incredible rate right now. China is filling every soft power gap in Africa and the Middle East while Europe is rapidly removing defense contracts and banning US military bases.

          banning US military bases

Yeah, it should be like that but it isn’t. Where did you get this when Poland is drooling over a new base and Greenland is happy for more US bases?

Base contracts in Germany are not being renewed. France just announced that they’ll be making their own weapons instead of buying them from the US.

There aren’t going to be more bases on Greenland. The Yuge Deal that Cheeto man is talking about is literally just the same deal that’s been in place for 100 years. He didn’t get anything. Not sure if he knows and is lying or if his handlers are just telling him he’s doing things to keep him happy.

You missed Poland and we’ll see about Greenland and Germany bases. EU is speaking about own weapons but at the same time we are still buying American ones bigly.

And now the Trump administration can celebrate a “victory” since they made EU release a portion of their emergency reserves to lower gas prices in time for the midterm elections. A solution to a problem caused by them, at Europe’s expense.

Why they aren’t getting slammed for causing this is beyond me.

Imagine someone could have predicted this inevitable outcome and could have invested that money into reneweable local energy sources /s

Let’s not rush the transition to clean energy, it might disrupt part of the economy that need fossil fuel. /s

The world isn’t just paying for the US’ inability to honor the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. It’s paying for shortsightedness w-r-t energy and fossiel fuel.

Well go ahead and show us. Show us how human history up to 1859 was 100% renewable.

Show us how to support 8 billion people without fossil fuels.

8 billion people without fossil fuels and you think we’ll have exactly the same life and just magically switch to rainbows?

2023 IPCC report: https://www.ipcc.ch/report/ar6/syr/ For a TL;DR see page 27 of Summary for Policymakers

The Shift Projects publications on decarbonisation: https://theshiftproject.org/en/publications/ This NGO publishes sector-specific analysis often focusing on France

Plans for energy and transport sectors typically include rapid electrification and move to renwables, varying levels of nuclear, and a residual amount of fossiel fuel or biofuel. Combined with efficiency, sobriety in energy and resources uses.

There was so much delaying and lobbying against change, that avoding the worse now require accelerating change in basically every sector, because every sector is dependent in some way on fossiel fuels. No single person can understand and know all sectors at a deep level. Analysing this require large group of people with expert in different fields. For instance the IPCC and The Shift Project.

We can either prepare for a world without fossil fuels as quickly as possible or we can be completely unprepared when the next oil crisis comes along or we run out of oil all together.

There’s nothing shortsighted about it. These shortages, supply issues, etc, are all part of the plan. First you establish the monopoly, then you do everything you can to exploit it’s loopholes. You can restrict or control the sun, or wind.

Only silver lining is that this should push the rollout & further development of alternate even more.
