Ooof that’s a tough question. It’s technically an engineering degree, so I was under the assumption that I would actually use it in my day to day. I just unwittingly stumbled back ass-ward into a completely unrelated technical field, so yeah. At least that fine piece of paper did its job and got me the connections I needed to be employed.

both, the job prospects are so low in many stem fields its pretty much difficult to apply to a job , which are pretty much gatekeeped.

Which is why I was sooooo grateful that my professors helped get me my first internship outside of academia. Most of my job moves afterwards have been through connections I made at working so it was critical for my career to get started.

your PI, PROFESSORS went out of thier way to help you, thats probably what Universities should having resources devoted to or my other suggestion was warnign students about certain fields. attribute my state school is how they treat HS students, just push them through the system and hope they dont ask too much questions, what they are after was FRESHman to get thier butts in the seat, because they know thats the cash cow for full tuition money.

    Rescue someone from a height.

Had to learn it because I was working for a wireless teleco. Hope to never use it. But I don’t work for a telco anymore so the chance is insanely low.

I can whistle while smiling, whistle while breathing in, classic pursed lips, and I can trill with a little bit a spit. The smiling one always gets a laugh, I’m pretty sure its technically nose whistling but mechanically I’m forcing air through my tough at my teeth which reverberate at a high pitched sound

filmmaking. I have thousands of dollars in (now ageing) gear that rarely gets used anymore because I lack the social network of contacts in my new small town to make a project happen.

I took a bunch of sword and fencing classes back in the day. I suspect/hope that won’t come up often as I don’t even own a sword.

remember when chess got really popular and all the kids were doing chess…

anyday now it’ll be sword and fencing turn to be the fashion. it’ll be both epic and tragic. and your skills will be appreciated.

For reasons beyond my comprehension, I’m good with children and they, for some reason, are drawn to me and show me levels of respect and interest in what I have to say that they don’t offer to others.

I can’t stand children and avoid them like the plague.
