Seriously, Fuck Black Friday. Fuck the weeks before raising prices. Fuck the pretend 75% off of a piece of shit item that costs 5 bucks to make. Fuck making that item and marking it up 500%. Fuck not paying the person making that item a living wage. Fuck making a trinket that leverages a desperate person’s full day of labour away from their families.
There is no Thanks I’m giving here…And specifically a big fucking middle finger to the Amazon that takes lives and makes this world a shittier place.
Save the real Amazon by killing off the namesake corporation.
Fuck you Bezos, I hope your yacht fucking sinks while you and your plastic wife are aboard having botched elective surgeries.
That’s one angry shower.
I feel cleaner having shared the thought though! Now the day feels better somehow.
To be clear, I completely agree. I’ve been tracking the Samsung nvme prices, and… It was sobering what tactics were used to raise prices. Worst part is, it’s the same on any store. Bestbuy, microcenter, amazon newegg. All of the prices rose and fell in unison.
I was just looking at NVME and RAM prices. Buying those things is a nightmare. I haven’t found any larger storage NVME lately but I was given some nice 8TB hdds for media and backups. Also, haven’t found ddr5 but found some free ddr4 for some servers.
I would argue to say black Friday is dead. The deals were definitely not that great this year and there is no time crunch anymore since it’s like a whole weekend or week and nobody has money to do that anymore.
Depends on what you are buying. PC/gaming stuff, yeah this year sucked. sports stuff? amazing deals to be had.
PC stuff sucked this year thanks to AI datacenters creating shortages that saw stuff like 100 dollar sets of ram skyrocket to 1000 dollars
If you live in a government or university (or tech industry) town the tech churn happens often. I don’t always need the most modern stuff for gaming so ewaste supplies a lot of useful shit for me. Sport stuff can usually be bought from rich quitters for cheap. Same with work stuff (especially blue collar work stuff like workboots). Although, I definitely treat myself to quality sport stuff purchases from time to time.
Really? Didn’t notice the sports stuff. Glad you found some good deals
If I didn’t need to buy cough syrup, I wouldn’t have spent a cent today.
Took a walk, sat on a bench, played decade old games, decorated the tree, and ate leftovers.
Living your best life, I see
I needed to pick up sour cream for a dish I was making. It was the store brand, on sale #doorcrasher /s
Sounds like a great day. Sorry about the cold. Unless you enjoy cough syrup. No judgement.
I used the day to decorate my reusable tree with sentimental ornaments I’ve been collecting my whole life. My kid did about half the work, holiday music was played for ambiance.
hands off my 40" Sorny

I’m more of a Magnetbox bird, myself.
Relevant comment I left on a similar post:
It’s even worse in Australia. A long while back we had a really bad bushfire that resulted in something like 70 people dying called black Friday. More recently we had a bushfire that resulted in over 150 people dying and 400 injured called black Saturday
It’s honestly insulting to see these corporations come in and have these black Friday sales, showing that they don’t care or respect for the history of Australia or its people, all while they flaunt the masquerade of “It’s for you!!!”
While it’s nothing like the same degree, as nobody was hurt, we already had black Friday in the UK too. It’s the last Friday before Christmas, when the factories would close for the holidays and the workers would typically hit the pubs to celebrate.
Now we’ve got black Friday, black Friday season, and even black week being advertised to us, all based on an American holiday in November 🤷🏻♂️
The Bloody Sunday discounts in Ireland are insane
also, things are really cheaper after christmas not before it.
also, fuck other countries that import that “holiday” when it makes absolutely no sense to do so outside the us.
In Germany there’s a “previous price” button and they’re not allowed to first raise the prices. I just got a sweater I’d been ogling for months for less than half price.
Yeah I just… Don’t need that much stuff. Most of my money goes to food and shelter.
Same. I just enjoy rants against the machine.
Black Friday be like:
Item is $300
Day before black Friday
item is $300 with a “$399” with a slash through it beside it.
Black friday used to actually be good. but like everything good, corporate greed ruined it.
It became a week long event, then a month long event, then companies figured out if they slightly hurt sales in late october/november by doubling prices, they could massively increase sales for black friday, and make those sales at near normal retail pricing too thanks to JCPennying.
I still shop black friday when I can. not to buy into marketing hype, or to buy something for its normal price and think I got an amazing deal, but because I hope to find something i actually need in a discount price I can actually afford. . . Which is getting rarer and rarer with each passing year.
I’ve found the bitching about prices going up to present bigger discounts to be mostly not true unless you are just mindlessly buying small cheap shit.
I’ve definitely saved some money shopping today.
Yeah, I know I’m in the minority in the fediverse on this but for the last few months (for some of what I wanted, about 10 months) I’ve kept glancing at a few things that weren’t urgent but would be needed soonish, and now the prices have all come down a good chunk for Black Friday.
I get if you’re randomly scrolling amazon looking for deals, yeah, that’s garbage. But if you’ve been patient, with actual specific ideas…
Bingo. I basically think about what I"m going to buy in the next six months and list it up and then buy it on black friday if it’s below the normal price. And usually it is.
I just bought 6 bags of $25 coffee for $15 each. Bought a bunch of summer stuff that I will use next year. Saved 60 bucks on what I was going to buy anyway. Didn’t buy any games this year because nothing I wanted was more than $10 off and it will be cheaper after the holidays, but most years I buy all my gaming stuff for the year on black friday.
Yeah I agree. Planning what you need definitely helps. I usually make a list and discover I can either buy local, get the shit for free, or in six months I don’t really need it.
Yeah true. I saved a ton by not buying anything
Yeah, it does happen, but it’s mostly shitty companies that do that.
Like many other commenters here, I spent the day not shopping, not watching TV (I don’t even own one and haven’t even heard of your favorite streaming services), not listening to any popular music or even the A sides of albums by some bands you’ve never heard of, eating only whole foods that didn’t show any form of suffering during their demise when harvested from the community garden, identifying 2026 candidates to align with (whom I shall never name here lest someone bring up an imperfect act they once failed to adequately denounce), and telling loose acquaintances that I am an ally for their non-traditional romantic entanglements.
Was it Black Friday?
Hahaha. Yeah buddy. You sound like you are partaking in the grand old tradition of American Style Sarcasm! Fun. I enjoy the more refined Pisstake that the British so skillfully employ.
Here in the UK, retailers have been pretending Black Friday has always been a thing. In reality it only arrived here a few years ago. The first year, it was crazy. The second year, it was underwhelming. A few years on, we have Black Friday Week which actually lasts two weeks (this week and next). Internally we call it Black Friday Month, which should give you some idea of the eventual endgame.
Hey, today’s Buy Nothing Day!
Ery day is Buy Nothing Day
