They’ll just add another one that clarifies it can only happen if the terms were not consecutive, of it your surname is Trump.

He has never won from a man. Only against two women.

Now, I would not interpret that as a “thing” or a “dig” at myself… But I know the orange tangerine definitely would not like to be reminded.

    Let’s remind him. Constantly.

I don’t think so. That would only make his wish to run and win against Obama even stronger. I am perfectly sure he thinks he could win in such a contest. He is after all a completely delusional pathological narcissist.

And don’t forget, he has control of the whole federal government at the moment. He’s attacking his political enemies and attacking voting rights. It would be entirely within his current M.O. to either politically jail Obama, or change the voting laws to favor himself over Obama by restricting access to PoC being allowed to vote, sending ICE to deport anyone who tries to vote without bringing their social security card and birth certificate, etc.

The SCOTUS is also on his side if there ever ends up being a debate about the results, so super fucked.

Honestly there’s a variety of legitimate reasons to put Obama in jail. It’s a fraction of the number of reasons to put trump in jail, but they’re there

Sure, and how many times has Obama been impeached? Thought so. You can not like your country all you want, but there is a way to do things and a way not to. Obama did it the way you are supposed to and Trump does whatever he feels like at any given moment. These are not even in the same realm of problems to deal with. Keep beating that dead horse though, eh!

                  Yes, both sides bad.

                  No, there’s only one side.

Now what are you doing about your country burning down around you

Recognizing that the problem is bigger than just republicans, which is more than most people are doing.

Appealing or circumventing the 22nd is a bridge too far, and they know it.
That’s why the slogan is “Trump 2028”, not “Donald Trump”. They’ll run one of his sons instead.
Because of course, that’s what they’d do.

Like when they announced a press conference at the 4 Seasons before booking it, got denied, and held it in front of 4 Seasons Total Landscaping instead.
All that matters is being “technically correct” so they can claim that’s what they promised in the first place.

That’s why they’re floating the “no CONSECUTIVE 2 terms” is the actual interpretation.

It’s like the “no Homers club” letting you have exactly one Homer.

I mean, that same constitution has protected slavery for the past 150 years. That’s a problem; has been for a lil while. Why is it a dictatorship at this point and not like, the Patriot Act?

They already have a solution for that. They want to change it to say "no more than two consecutive terms.

Right, and he wouldn’t have a third consecutive term because of the gap so everything is peachy.

Two consecutive terms + a third detached one is overall still “more than two consecutive terms”

You’re missing their point. More is ambiguous in that sentence. It can be defined as consecutive like you have, or it can be defined as anything more than two consecutive terms. Since Obama has had two consecutive terms, any term now would be beyond two consecutive terms even though that term itself is not consecutive.

What conservatives are really good at is injecting something that doesn’t exist like ‘consecutive’ in the number of terms so that people argue about it as if it is actually important. I was being cheeky, you are validating their bullshit by acting like it matters.

Also, if Trump won in 2028 then his first term would count as more than two consecutive terms. Now if someone was elected every other election they could be elected any number of times until they died!

Yeah… that’s their “solution,” Aaron Sorkin… Definitely not anything else more stupidly nakedly sinister and illegal.

I mean… clearly, as we have seen now since the 1980s, the elephants definitely care about rules and need to carefully figure out a way around them so the people whose opinions they deeply care about don’t see them as hypocrites.

I mean, it’s not like even if everything showed they lost they would like… illegally try to perform a coup and storm the US Capitol building to try to violently overturn the results regardless of the outcome’s legality or validity if it didn’t suit their narrative.

      -_-

Obama didn’t help make Trump happen because of his skin color or any conspiracy.

Obama helped by promising desperately needed “hope and change” and then dissolving his more deeply left grass roots organizations who helped get him elected.

Obama helped Biden coalesce the neoliberal wagons around his campaign to win at a critical moment during the 2020 presidential primary.

Obama was more concerned with appearing noble in his politics than using power to fully address peoples’ material needs and thereby more effectively inoculating said desperate people from demagoguery offering scapegoats to blame at those needs being unmet.

They were playing with ideas to prevent this. I.e. the limit only applies to consecutive terms. Obama had two consecutive terms, Trump didnt
