Despite the White House insisting he remains in “perfect” health, Mr Trump fed the flames of speculation during a rally in Dalton, Georgia, this week, ahead of the November mid-terms. Addressing the crowd, the president made an offhand comment about Chinese president Xi Jinping, who he said “was here last week”.

In reality, Xi visited the US and met with Mr Trump during a three-day trip from September 23 to 25, around three weeks ago. The apparent blunder sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with one user labelling him “Dementia Donnie”. Another wrote: “He doesn’t [know] what day it is. It’s gonna get worse as he goes along.”

Why do Americans keep putting such old people into power? Trump and Biden. Why not someone young like Obama?

It was insane that it was Biden vs Trump again in 2024 for a while. Both of them are older than Bill Clinton and trying to get the job that Clinton retired from ~24 years prior to that.

Why do Americans keep putting such old people into power?

Because the US decided money = speech. All the old people have all the money. Young people are subsisting on starvation wages after Regan, and we saddled them with debt slavery from student loans. So, when you have all the money, you have all the speech. So, old people get elected.

Also, corporations control politics. They view politicians like warehouse equipment. The dollies don’t get replaced super often to maximize ROI. The same applies to politicians.

Why not someone young like Obama?

You think the rich would tolerate such a risk? He got elected and then started talking universal health-insurance. The rich dumped truckloads of money against that. So, we ended up with Romney care relabeled as Obamacare. You think they’d tolerate such a risk to their profit margins in light of what I explained above?

God damn, I don’t think I even realized that she was that old. It’s hard to call someone old when you’re comparing them to someone with one foot in the grave.

It’d be nice if our electorate was, on average, of an age where they still have a future to worry about.

When you consider monarchies that have come and gone, it’s not really a new phenomenon. People are drawn to brand names.

wealth/influence distribution across age cohorts. There is a fairly big percentage of the population that are quite old, and most of the wealth and influences is concentrated with in those older cohorts.

Younger candidates are ether sycophantically aligned ethos the interests of those older cohorts to gain the support of that wealth and influence, thus making them extremely unpopular with younger cohorts, or are opposed to those interests and thus have a huge amount of wealth and power arrayed against them and attempting to undermine them.

Older candidates who directly have control over wealth/influence/connections in that cohort can break that mold and actually do politics without having to fight that “radical”/sycophantic” dichotomy.

Basically, wealth inequality favors old people.

    Donald Trump health fears spike

Who writes these headlines? Why not “Donald Trump death hopes spike” or something that better represents collective opinion?

‘The most uneducated buffoon in history stands at a podium, bloated with self-importance, lips pursed like a carnival barker ready to sell turd milk to the unsuspecting. He grins a grotesque smirk stretched across his face as he scrawls his name onto a hollow decree, a sham celebration of the dismantling of knowledge itself. The Department of Education falls, not with a bang, but with wheezing verbs, suffocated under the weight of his own staggering ignorance. Surrounding him are the usual suspects: cowards in expensive suits, servile sycophants clapping like trained seals, and racist opportunistic ghouls picking clean the bones of democracy. Liars, fools, and thieves all parasites fattening themselves on the hardships of the many. They stand in rigid formation, dead-eyed and soulless, their allegiance sworn not to country, not to principle, but to power, and the dark, festering rot that clings to it. And there he is the convicted wrong, the living embodiment of septic tank spew, his voice a noxious fog of grift and grievance. He lectures the world on right and wrong, irony clawing at the walls, desperate to escape the grotesque theatre of his moral void. The stomach turns, the air curdles, and for a moment, history itself recoils watching, in horror, as the great American experiment teeters on the precipice, led by a man who couldn’t spell “precipice” if his life depended on it.’

I think the only fear here is that he dies before the elections, and the conservatives get some kind of sympathy bump instead of him being alive dragging them down…

I don’t think it gets sympathy, but apathy. “Trump was my guy, no point in voting now. Might as well stay here and drink.”

I could be wrong, but I’d love to be presented with empirical evidence of that. I’d have the biggest grin while congratulating you on your prognostication.

He’s going to live a lot.longer than you think. And if you think he’s just going to pack up his classified documents and leave the Shite House in 2029, you’re very mistaken.

The year is 2032. The crowd is gathering for God Emperor Trump’s birthday parede. Not voluntarily, but at least they get beer and a desiccated burger. The organizers are doing their best again to make the Emperor presentable. The orange makeup covers a lot, and the smell has been gone for a couple of years now. Still, their hearts tremble when the handwaving mechanism kicks in. People need to see Dear Leader strong, to forget the war that has been ravaging the Mid-Western states. The parede ends well, no body parts have been flung this year. People shuffle back to their buses, savoring the rare taste of beer in their mouth. Many of them take the burger in their pockets back to their kids in the barrack. It will be a good day for them too! Long live the Emperor!

The dude is a real life Eric Cartman. The more you are outraged, the more you control you give him. He thrives off being constantly in the news, good or bad. The only way to beat him is to ignore him. And vote, maybe…

that’s solid advice, except trump is actively wrecking the country and the world. trump starts another bullshit forever war just because he can, and your suggestion is to “ignore him”?

no. i’ll shit on trump until the day i die.

“and vote.” ok. we’ll see if voting is even a thing that matters in our fascist country in a couple weeks.
